Timing belt/chain?

Hiya,

Does the P38 diesel have a timing belt or chain and if it needs replacing, when? Air bags are next on my list of items to replace, but thought I'd check.

When they start to rattle or you can't start it when hot...,don't go there unless you need too!

Ok, fair do's. I'm not a mechanic so I take it the chains also run the FIP that is very expensive and can need adjusting?

I'll leave well alone. It starts within 1 second on the key from cold and within about 3-4 seconds from hot. So I do have a slight issue, but its not really a problem.

So does mine and chains and sprockets are new , if it ain't broke......

That's good going for one of these engines when brand new so

enjoy yourself fitting those bags, it's got to be one of the easiest jobs on a P38. It must be, I did four in a day within a week of buying the beastie. :D
