Hey guys got a disco 95 model v8
Recently put a six inch lift in2 inch body 2 inch springs and shocks
And 2 inch spring blocks, I have lowerd both shock towers and removed
The sway bars, also put a spacer in the tail shaft to bring it back a little.

My problem is when I locked it in the other week to go on the
Beach it sound like the uni or something was binding up badly? Removed
Front shaft and went for a drive just on the rear and it sounds like my transfer has given up? Heaps of play ( slams into gear ) before I pull apart or replace the transfer I want to know why it shat it self so it dosnt do it again? Any ideas?? Mby cause of the harsh angle of front shaft ??? Cheers

What ratio and wheels are you running for that?

Wouldn't have thought disco 1.2 would cope so defender 1.4 or even 1.6 if you have über huge wheels

Most people can more than cope with just 2" lift and bigger wheels. 6" is always going to put more strain on the vehicle. If you need clearance then larger diameter wheels surely lifts. Lifted vehicle will still have same clearance with same tyres. Now if its clearance you want then portal axles or unimog axles

my disco if on a 4" lift 2 on springs and 2 on body. i wont go any more untill ive put wide angle props on. like my other trayback disco that has a 6" suspension lift, transfer boxes do have there problems but yours is more than likely down to prop-shafts not turning freely.

im running 315/75/16 tyres to, and still no problems with transfer box

i repeat,
so how does a 6" lift give you more ground clearance?

The body is higher from the ground yes but the axles, diff text are still at the same height if you are running near standard tyres surely.

I point was merely why lift so much without BIG wheels?
