It looks like 205/80/R16 setup gives maximum ride height on a freelander with standard suspension without rubbing, so no need for spacers using 205 wide tyres.

Add a Bearmach 2'' lift kit into the mix, and presumably the job is done in maximising the ride height to a safe level without it being unstable at speed. What do you guys think? Would it be wise to end there....

Or could we go even further by adding longer shocks/springs (Ironman springs: 1.5'' lift), on top of the Bearmach lift kit and monster 80 profile tyres to get even more ride height?

It would be great to have a Freelander with as much ground clearance as some of these from the rather exhaustative list I made below. :p

The maximum lift you can put on a freeby is 2 inches. Apparently if you go any more than this you'll need to start doing more hefty modifications. It's not just a case of adding springs as well as spacers unfortunately.

Obviously you can have more from the tyres as the tyres add onto the radius from the center of the hub, but where you're limited is the fast you can only push the independent suspension so far.

225 too wide for the strut cup i expect, 205/80 thats it, unless u fit spacers and want to see your wheel pass you

Does anyone have any experience with tyres of this size on their Freelander? I was going to fit 215/70 but if I can do 205/80 with no real handicaps then that would be an attractive option.

Will.

These do? 225/75/16 kumhos on black modulars!

So why are 205/80's ok but not 215/75's? The rolling radius is smaller on 215/70 - so is the width the problem? No Grabber AT's or BFG's in 205/80 :(.

205 - 215 of the same diameter the difference is only 5mm on the inside edge of the wheel, so cheap 5mm spacers would negate this completely if it was even an issue!
