This is the 5th time that I have carried Pumkin on vacation to the islands.
this time we went to Abaco. Only there for a week. It was great but lots left to explore.

Here we are again on the Ferry boat, another 4 1/2 hours to get to Sandy Point Abaco.

Everyone is anxious to get there.

Please don't post any more pics :( I'm struggling to contain my jealousy as I sit in a caravan on holiday in Norfolk without either of my landys :( :(

But seriously looks like great fun mate :D

Nice to see you're enjoying it Natas .. took a while!

Lovely place to have one too, I bet!! ;)

i'll have to look on my computer at home cos this work one not showing me any pics  god knows why but its very frustrating!!!

As a child we used to travel to Abaco on airplanes. i always remember looking down during the flight and as we came off the ocean over the land at the southern end there is an old lighthouse that was in ruin. I always thought to myself one day I want to go and check it out.

So when we arrived in abaco i asked for directions.
The locals told me how to get there but warned us that it would be very difficult as there was no longer any real road and the bush had grown over most of it. Plus they said where its summer time its really hot and the bush is extra thick.

They said that I would be an idiot to try it.:D

We started out around 8am from a town called Marsh Harbour. it took us close to an hour to get to the trail that leads to the lighthouse.

As we were aproaching the trail we saw this.
abaco42.jpg

Should I take this as a sign?
abaco60.jpg

We entered the trail and I was surprised, it really was not that bad.

abaco52.jpg

Really really hot and humid but still....not that bad.

abaco51.jpg

4 or 5 miles of this going deep into the pine forest and still getting hotter.

Then it all turned to ****!
abaco50.jpg

Mile after mile, it got worse and worse.
abaco30.jpg

No one had been down here in a long time. I thought it would be wise to turn around but I am not very wise. Besides, I was in Pumkin!

At one point the bush was so thich we had to screw up the windows. It was almost unbearable hot!

Finally after about 2 hours we spotted the lighthouse.

Heh, a childhood dream realised, and such a great location to have a dream. :)

First time I turned up at my stepmums place with my old S3, she almost screamed .. dad (who had died a year or so earlier) had always wanted one and the one I had was exactly the same as one he had been looking at when he died!! I like to think I've fulfilled one of his dreams by getting into Landrovers .. ;)

That looks like a fantastic trip. I love derelict buildings and you've had the pleasure of seeing some in interesting exotic locations. Any pictures of the insides?

OK, here are a couple more.
These were taken on the Island named Elbow Cay in the town called Hope town.
Both of my parents were born on this island.

This is the view looking off the back patio in the evening.
