afternoon all, hope everyone not getting their hands too oily,i have a feeling i will be shortly..bugger.anyway on my k series petrol freelander ive changed the head gasket...easy, changed the clutch...awkward..now ive started to get a really bad how i can only describe as an oscilating shake on aceleration above 40mph and boy it does shake!gonna get under the car tommorow but i thought some of you wise sages might have some idea where to start,i would have said the drive shafts to start with, obviously a c.v joint has worn or bearing or bushes but bloody hell where!im off down to cornwall in 5 weeks so got get sorted any ideas chaps.mark i dont know if its connected but the t.c light and hill decent light have just started flashing at me.it never rains........

You tend to be able to feel excessive play in the inner cv's if you jack the car up and get a hand on each one so you can compare. They tend to cause vibrtions on acceleration in a straight line, if they fail.

If its an engine failing underload, you can simulate that by driving along around 20mph and putting it into 5th gear. Enough to heavily labour the engine, if mil comes up and it wont pull when it should, possibly breaking down underload.

Also check you tightening the engine steady up when you dropped subframe :)

thanks for reply gonna get under motor tommorow and have a look cheers mark

your complaint read as if your problem started after the work you have done, perhaps this isn't the case, but i always check any recent repairs first before moving on to new fault finding, sorry if this dents your ego.

yes i totaly agree with you.fitting a new clutch involved a lot of graft dropping both gear boxes drive shafts ect so that will be the area to start, may have to drop rear prop off if nothing is clearcut to see if it disapears,it really is an alarming juddering shake above 40mphon acceleration thanks for comments.
