Black smoke 200tdi

Thought I would come visiting. Went to see a k reg 200tdi thats been laid up for poss 6 monthsish. When started there was a fair bit of black sooty smoke. The rear half of the exhaust is in the boot.
Now
Im Thinking as it started on the button it was just soot build up (so not a problem) other opinions are always great.

Fuel pump needs adjusting...or not...depending on whether it smokes under acceleration or just a start up.

yes it needs adjusting to give more oommph and more smoke

But if it has been standing for a long time without running wouldn`t it be smokey for a
while?

Hers an idea...throw a gallon of diesel in, go for a 20 mile jolly and see if it still smokes either under acceleration or at start up,

its a landrover it smokes.it leaks,it rusts,it falls apart

hi i have a 2.5 200tdi 1993 disco and it starts on the button no heating her up or owt but it smokes black when towing or when you put your foot down some1 said its the piston rings its only done 89,000 miles any thoughts ?

Not long done one. Keep everything including pipes and the airbox and fixings
