paul darlows 100inch svx

IVe just been reading through this months issue of lro iinternational. and saw paul darlows 100inch svx. and i must say what a machine. but one thing that confused me a little bit is how he extended the chassis. it said he litterally cut the ninety chassis in half and welded 7 inches of steel into it. but surely that wouldnt be road legal because its a mayjor chassis mod. can anyone else explain.

I'm sure chassis can be lengthened!

Seen double cabs done professionally with the rear tub of a single cab, therefore making it longer.

Not much different to doing a quarter chassis repair, just adding metal as you put it back on,

No it was an Isuzu rodeo, watched it come in the shop and saw it go out, considerably longer!

My first landy was a 100". Started life as a 110 and got shortened in the wheelbase department and also shortened behind the rear wheels and was just welded back up again. Never a problem come MoT time. I wonder if it's still out there? Q325BCH

It appears it was given a Q plate perhaps due to these modifications.... ?

It was on a Q plate as it was built from parts: 110 chassis, disco engine, God knows where the rest of it came from. Suffice it to say I didn't build it myself. I just meant to say that chopping the chassis about apears not to be a problem as far as legality is concerned. Never broke down neither.
