mpg on p38 deisel

Now had mine 3 months. averaging 28.5 mpg

My 1999 2.5DSE does the following at the mo:

• Urban = 28.25 (10Lt/100Km)
• Highway = 31.39 @ 110Kmph (9Lt/100Km)
• Non Highway = 35 @ 90Kmph (8Lt/100Km)

I'll bet that is taken from the display not a brim to brim check, those are the sort of figures I used to get on the display with a power box fitted, in reality on a brim to brim basis it was a true 23 to 30 mpg

I'm averaging 25mpg with short journeys/A-road trips/a bit of towing. No motorway work at all. Last time I did a motorway run it was a little under 30mpg cruising at around 70mph.

Mine is a manual btw. No powerbox or anything like that. Actual mpg not trip display (I don't have a trip computer on my poverty spec DT!)

My '99 Auto when used daily to work and back with a good mix of Country Lanes, A Roads and Motorways was returning on brim to brim 26.2mpg

Now it is a weekend and evening toy, that gets moved forwards then backwards 20ft to get her car into and out of the garage, and the odd run at weekends it is return just over 24mpg (24.3 at last fill up)

Why

Lack of anti waxing agents.. its well documented outside this forum. Change over dates are 15 OCT to winter and 15 MAR to Summer. Saint found the legislation and posted on another topic.

Albeit only a couple of miles difference depending on the engine, but couple that with warmer weather less lights wipers etc it snowballs to reach 4/5 difference. And granted only those who do high mileage will see the most difference.

Temperature makes a big difference on short runs but I can't see the anti waxing making enough difference to be noticable I add my own as needed to my stock of red for the tractor.
