running boards

I have removed the running boards from my 97 p38 all ok no snaped bolts etc, now when i got under my 99 p38 to fit them i find there are no threaded holes. There are holes but look like they need some sort of threaded gromit fitting into the holes so i can fit the brackets. Is there a gromit or another way to do the job.?

Yes that sounds about right... where or who dose them and dose it need a special tool to fit them?

I got a set and tool from ebay, but there is a how-to on here somewhere that tells you how to fit them without the tool.

Don't fit them they look crap on P38s.

there is not a lot of room between the inner sill and the chassis, id say about 3" tops. the fitting tools look a little more that that.

Wammers. these are Genuine Land Rover kit, reason for fitting is the Wife is dissabled and needs a step, they are off my old Range Rover. Its a matter of taste and functionality.

Well if your missus needs them, that's a good reason to fit them. But still say they spoil a P38.

Stiil might not be able to fit if i can not get a fitting tool in. then its a caravan step in boot for everytime in and out.

pS.... We need a towball. seen them 2nd hand on fleebay. (swan neck type) anyone taking one off? i understand these have a loome ready to just (plug and play)

If you use the aluminium ones then you can do it with a bolt, a couple of decent washers, a nut and some grunting. Worth wasting a couple experimenting because getting little f*****s back out is a real pain.
