Oh dear.....

I'm glad I've taken the time to read this. I will make my Land Rover a 'Britpart-free Zone'

Have they ever been reported to the Office of Fair Trading for the quality issues?
But you aint got a real land rover !!! you got a gaylander...:D

As I expected, more people voted in britparts favour than not.

This is probably because some britpart stuff is to be avoided, but the vast majority is fine/superb!

first off, i did buy britpart.
then i realised just how substandard these parts are. doors not fitting, new doortops going rusty very quick. brake and clutch components failing. brake shoes wearing out seemingly instantly, drums being out of round from new, bushes... dont even get me started! 6 weeks and they were knackered.

ive given them second and third chances and i still have the same opinions.
they havent replied to my complaints

ive bought 1 britpart thing in the last year, an ignition switch purely for the fact that britpart is £6 and OEM is £48 +vat.
ill see how long it lasts!

1.paddocks didnt give me that option
2.it was a temporary bearing to get me home from college (which i had in stock for about a year), where i would drive to paddocks as i live close and pick up a timken bearing

online list gives you choice of timken (branded) or britpart.

no "expensive" britpart

Either way, I think you're unlucky. The vast majority is great.

The other thing is that no matter who you buy from, these old parts are becoming increasingly manufactured by the same firm, and sold to britpart, bearmach, land rover etc so it's not always easy to get the bits that are out of full production.

Ive had britpart wheel bearings in for 18months, but then I fitted new swivels and one sheared off a month or so later. Now that's bad news!

The other side is still intact as is it's replacement and they've had serious hammer, so I assume I just got a bad one. Not good that it can happen, but you cant expect to buy a swivel kit for 70 quid and get top class parts.

I think a lot of people forget that britpart is cheap. I always look to britpart first cos they have the largest range by far, them seem to sell everything.

Only thing I don't buy is huh seals, I get allmakes genuine quality, although tbh I bet britpart genuine quality are the same manufacturer anyway.

nearly all the parts come from britpart bearmach and allmakes ,everybody deals with the same 3 wholesalers so everyone can get the same parts ,with next day delivery from wholesalers what retailers choose to sell is upto them

My Britpart radiator has lasted almost 2 weeks so far! :)

Shame the allegedly oem expansion tank cap didn't seal and the thermostat is doing weird things but we can't have everything.

i had a few problems with ****part offroading my fuel pump gave up and it was only 2 months old, clutch slave, wheel bearings all sorts i try not to use ****part for brakes, clutch bearings i just dont like the name yes i buy from them but minimum and not the really important stuff

have not read the whole thread so it might have already been covered.
but, what are they like for honouring the 2 year guarantee?
are they likely to say " it was not fitted by an approved/trained or proffesional mechanic so guarantee is void"

theyre guarantee is the only reason my clutch is britpart at the moment. as i have a TDI and its a series clutch ive been through 2 plates cos the series pressure plate doesent clamp hard enough for the power unless you get H/D

Been rebuilding my gearbox and have been using genuine seals and bearings. The seals now say made in India, which doesn't fill me with confidence.
Interestingly(or not), the genuine mainshaft nut didn't fit the lock washer or my special tool because the castellations are wider the the one that was on there. The Britpart one did fit...
