Alright,

Can any of you kind fellows give me a laymens fix instructions for moving the passenger side blend motor from constant cold to constant hot as I'd take the latter this time of year :)

Also my left leg seems to be getting very hot when reasting on the side of the central console (RHD) when fans are supposed to blow front??? Would this indicate a hole in the ducts as the LHS has quite a forceful blow but the RHS is probably no better than a mouse fart...

Many thanks in advance!

Just had my right hand blend motor disconnected and the flap jammed by my mate who is a mechanic. This is just to get me through the winter until I get a new blend motor. He was in doing my heater matrix so I got him to jam it open just now.It is really hot now inside the car but i can cope whilst we have temperatures in the minus in scotland. So it can be done but not sure exactly how he did it.

Cheers for that, same sort of situation I'm in, just want to put that job off for a while.

I'm sure there is a way of manually connection a power supply to the correct blend motor wires to get them to move to the desired location (subject to the flaps not being jammed/blend motor gears being good enough to do that last job)

This might not work as the Blend motor could have stripped internally, or the flap is stuck in one position....

Yeah I know but thought id give it a shot if someone knew how... may just remove glovebox and get me hand up there and do it the old fashioned way.
My Blends need doing as I can't change the temp on either side, and both are atuck on cold....

I too have been toying with the idea of jamming the Passanger side hot as a temp until the new year....

If it gets any colder, I will be doing just that....

I'll try give it a go this week and let you know how I get on, re: easy...

If you are going in to get at the blend motor , then you might as well replace it , as its a bit of PITA job on the drivers side . the glove box side is much simpler . IIRC you need to pull of centre tunnel side and then unscrew trunking , , remove speedo panel , you need a rightangle phillips . Search on forums for blend motor , ther is quire a good guide took me about 1.5 hrs IIRC HTSH

i done this before, simple job on passenger side.take glovebox out and airbag(dont think i had to disconnect wires to it)place airbag on top of dash.you can see blend motor behind air trunking ,there are 2 screws which hold it,you can get 1 with a screw driver, but the other i had to use a star bit and pliers to loosen it, then undid it with my fingers.you can see the lever which adjusts the temp, just move it either way to set your temp.you wont be able to bolt the blend motor back on as it will be in the wrong position .i used tie wraps to secure lever and secure blend motor out of the way.while it was off i took the front cover off the blend motor and adjusted the temp you were able to see the motor turning a little,so i just kept doing this and it has started working spot on again, you have to have the drivers side temp set to around half way for the passenger one to work all the way through its travel(hot to cold)if you take the cogs out make sure you line the arrows up on the potentiometer before reasemble.although none of this will be any good if the teeth are worn. it should only take around an hour.good luck

Right well just finished faffing about with this and I now have hot air on the passenger side :)

Not much of a job to get to the motor, although airbag was a pig to push out with the vaneir strip in place which I just shuffled around (as didn't know how to get it off) lol

However... Much was discovered whilst I was in there!

Someone had done the blend motors previously (very badly)! Much of the trunking was either loose, sawed in half or very badly fitted, so spent an age putting this right (still drivers side to do) and the passenger side blend motor wasn't even connected, just hanging off!

I knew that someone had faffing before as when I got her, I removed the stereo and found the passenger side blend motor snipped off from the main loom, so re-attached and nothing (which is obvious why now as wasn't connected at the other end)!

Had a look inside the motor and no cogs had missing teeth, one cog was miss-placed but that was easily sorted. I did however notice the arrows on the two parallel cogs were not in line so I lined them up... Not sure if this is correct though?

Anyways, turned the ignition on and the motor turned a bit but wasn't massively responsive to temp changes, however, I got the impression that as soon as the HEVAC detects a fault (in my case no resistance to stop travel), it does not send power to that motor again?

Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to put the motor back on and time was running away from me so it's just dangling at mo, hence flap has been flicked over to hot :D do me for work tomorrow.

Does anyone know if the teeth on the motor have to go in at a certain angle to the flap slot (as the motor has one flat side) or is the flap slot just a semetrical star (couldn't really see).

Also, has a anyone got a spare connector block for the motors? Mine has been damaged by the ham-fisted twit who did the last job :(

mine did the exact same, turned a little then went into fault mode,i just turned the ignition off then on again.it kept just moving a little so i kept on and off with the ignition till it started working fully,i had to have the hevac set to mid temp on drivers side for the passenger side to move fully from cold to hot.if your driver side one is jambed at hot or cold this maybe what is causing passenger one to not work properly.if you have both out at the same time and try adjusting them you will be able to see which ones not trying to turn, hope this makes sense.

Sorta lol

Drivers and distribution are spot on and just got back from work and fook me I was roasting and the DIY jobs on the nakkered ducts havnt half sorted the slow blowing issue.

Ill go outside now and have a fiddle again, wont take me long now I know how to get into it.

Woohoo all fixed!!! I now have to and cold options on both sides :D

Cheers for the advice, only took two on/offs of the key to get the motion going (whilst drivers side was set to 20 degrees). Test fitted and fiddles with the buttons and she moved (albeit slowly and a bit jerky) all the way from cold to hot and now no textbook symbol is showing!

Whilst I was back in there I gaffer taped up all duct connects as had lots of leaks from heavy-handed removals (where the sponge has come off) and now the heaters work like jet engines! :D

Got a video to put on YouTube, will post link soon (may be of help to some people).
