...Ok Guys we're out of the critical 'WTF have I done, these things are a waste of money' stage and are now enjoying the car but I do have some questions/queries and would appreciate any advice/help. So in no particular order:
BTW car is 2001 4.6l Vogue

1) Alarm keeps going off at night...where is the RF reciever that might be getting triggered by all the interference and how do I disable it?

2) Tyres were pumped up to 38psi and one 42psi, do you thin that might have been what arsed up the EAS a bit (now at 28 front and 32 rear), does this sound about right.

3) Quick clear windscreen clears only the passenger side...any fixes?

4) The digital readout for the temperature has lost pixels (you cant read passenger temps) and the bulb behind the driver side hotter/cooler switch is not working...any fixes?

5) Window tinting...naff or not if not whose the best doing it?

6) I want to tidy up the interior, the steering wheel is a bit manky, and the seats might appreciate a clean up. Its a beige colour, is that Lightstone, so I get the right colour dye, or does anybody have any recommendations how to go about this.

7) the wheels are a bit delaminated..is it possible to spray them in situ or is that going to look pants...any thoughts.

8) the accelerator pedal feels a bit 'notchy' is there anything I can do with that?

8) chrome exhaust tips, again naff or not and is not wheres best buy?

Phew I reckon that'll be enough for now...if anybody has any thoughts then love to hear from you.

Cheers

Rich

!. RF reciever is behind the trim in the side of the boot drivers side, disconnect the thin blue wire. Also get rid of any wireless doorbells, weather centres nearby.
2.Probably not. recommended pressures are 28 front 38 rear but i run my fronts a bit harder and rears a bit softer by about 2psi.
3Mine clears only the drivers side, i think its works by a mixture of blowers and heated screen, check to see if you get air out of the drivers vent and look for any obious breaks in the thin wires in the screen, could be a blend motor do you get hot air out using the heater?
4. think the only way will be to chance the unit, they come up on fleabay while its out change the bulbs for the switches.
5.Personal choice but get it done properly nothing worse than when ts done badly.
6Dunno thats why i chose one in black.
7.See 5.
8.lubricate[ change the throttle cable.
9. see number 5

Download rave invaluable it you intend to keep it for any length of time.

covered in spades cos they are the things that people want to talk about? Dispensing wisdom should be a pleasure not a chore but I'll try and think of new things to bring to table, I'm sure as I get used to the car it'll throw up more unusal issues to discuss, in the meantime thanks for pointing me to search engine.

Check relays as I believe (from memory - could be wrong) there is one for one side and one for the other....

My current '99 DSE has tints, and think it looks great....(check out my profile pic for a better look)

I believe Lightstone was a very very light biege, almost white, colour.

Chrome Exhaust....for me a bit Naff....

All of the above questions have already been done to death over the years and I would imagine that over 90% of the total posts since the inception of the forum relate to these queries.
The search facility is there..USE IT !!!
It's maddening to see exactly the same query, from different members on the list of posts on the same page.
I for one, will not spend ages typing out the same reply to a question that has been asked & answered with a succesful fix hundreds of times just because someone can't or won't be bothered to use the full and comprehensive contents and facilities of the forum.

Thank you Wammers...Irish Rover you're input is appreciated, as I said earlier in the string I will relish finding something completely new to talk about, but in the meantime cut a guy some slack who has only been an P38 owner for a week and is new to the Forum, who has had a less than straightforward introduction to the Range Rover world... Trust me the Search facility is being utilised now. I for one never turn away someone who seeks my advise for help, infact I take it as a compliment that I am respected for my knowledge, as they say a problem shared is a problwm halved.

Sorry if it seems you have been the sole recipient of my wrath !!
I fully accept the problems of finding your way around the site after all we were all newbies and wet behind the ears once.
As you have been exploring the various areas of Landyzone, you have no doubt discovered the vast amount of expertise and information available.
It's not only yourself, for which I will make an exception, but many others that can't be bothered to use the search facility, yet look for what in many cases is a detailed and lengthy reply which has already been posted many times in the past.
I would say, at a guess, that 95% of P38 problems, symptoms, causes and fixes have been well covered.
Don't be afraid to post, but a little homework on the site will probably save time whilst waiting for a reply and more than likely people will get the answer they are looking for.

The miserable Old Fart is signing off.......For Now !!!

One of the problems with search for a newbie, at least it was for me, is that there are 2 search buttons, one for Google which is the more obvious and one for the forum, less obvious, in the header bar. Took me a while to realise they were different. The forum one is useful and relevant, the Google one less so:)

So why not take the google one off, I mean we all have and use google so what's the point of the extra search, unless the forum makes some ££ out of it then that's a different story

Ahhhh, I never knew that ..... See if Richard never posted this , in short I would have still been using the wrong search button !!!!
Richard , see your contributing already

Only problem with that is on Range Rover section the Emmotts ad goes over the search box and the only one you can access is Google.
