I have a 2012 RR Sport(2days old) and new with Land Rovers in general, what all do I need to do to set it up for towing a motorcycle trailer?

I am a life long Land Rover fan and since I found out that Land Rover made the Range Rover when I was 4 years old....they have been my dream car ever since....

So it pains me when I troll around and see these L322 and Sports driven by people who couldn't even tell me who Charles Spencer King was....or what the first Range Rover was called....Or who it was in Land Rover that commissioned the prototype....

They buy them because they have too much money and think it will set them up in their respective social circles and the Jones's next door....

Now I am not saying you are one of these people as I don't know you from Adam....but why buy one of the Worlds best towing vehicles, yet have no clue about how to set it up to tow with??

Did you ask the Dealer for the Towing Pack when you specced the vehicle?

Suggest you book a day with the Land Rover Driving team to get some pointers on how to drive and operate the Worlds best 4x4xFar.

Who told you that bull ****??????????? worlds best towing vehicle. What you towing pink panties

To start with let me introduce myself before you start popping off at the mouth. I am 27 years old and have been in the Marine Corps for the past 10 years with 3 of them as a Drill Instructor on Parris Island. I actually do work for my money I can guarantee harder than what the two of you do especially the Army post above. Towing, I'm originally from South Georgia to start with and as a heavy equipment operator in my younger days owing numerous trucks and when it comes to towing I choose Ford over anything, any day of the week so before you start trying to become a jackass, I wouldnt go there.

Now back to the subject Land Rover products, my wife and I currently own a car, Ford Lightning, and in need of an SUV for a child in our near future. From my understanding its only the towing attachment that I need(LR019990) and the wiring harness to fit the "flat 4 to the trailer correct?

To the OP....

Sorry, congrats on the new car....

Just having a rant....been a bad day....

In the UK, we get a lot of over privilaged ****s who buy these things with no clue about them.....it is no disrespect to you, just a rant on the rich kids we got over here...!!

You went in at 17 then mom signed for you:D In the Navy( Marines belong to the Navy, we sign your pay checks and provide what you need:D:D) Ford best truck yep:D But why a Lr when there are so many USA suv's with less trouble???? A ford expedition is better than any LR if not just for being better mechanically.
What did you do use your reenlistment bonus to buy it? Pay is not bad but not that good to buy a 50,000USdollar car???????????
Love my F350 4X4 super duty crew cab 6.0 turbo diesel :D:D:D Will miss it when I move:(

Didn't you get an Owners Manual with the car. I have a P38 (not a Sport). On mine I must press the Inhibit switch on the air suspension to maintain Standard Height when towing.
I presently have a customer car in (P38) which was towing a car trailer with the owners new BMW Estate on it in the UK. He had never towed before and balanced the BMW on the trailer with no forward weight on the jockey wheel (oops) and didn't know about the sir suspension lowering to motorway mode (4 inches lower) after exceeding 50 mph. Result they got to 50 the suspension lowered and he immediately lost control of the whole rig. Went over the armco into a ditch, they got out OK but everything was a right-off. I have the wreck of the p38 which handled the accident well structually (nice to know). We have salvaged the engine (only 30k) and g.box, trans etc. So read that Owners Manual. It should mention what to do when towing. And if not sure take along someone who is experienced. If you have a motorcycle then a good tip is to definately visit the Isle of Man. For the TT or MGP or anytime as its motorcycling heaven. And no speed limits on out of town roads. Good 4x4 club here too.

He's a Yank in the Marines :eek::eek::p

I did say one of the worlds best....The list is long and it maybe down the list away, but it's still there...:D:D:D

I've towed with just about every 4x4 available in the UK market upto the mid noughties - So Fur Trapper leave it off with your super duty F350's etc, they're just not an option in RHD countries. And I guarantee that in the wrong hands they can be flipped fairly handy if they're empty too. I've made mistakes - totalled a land cruiser with a 3 tonne mini digger behind it, so I've a fairly broad experience in towing behind me.

One thing I am certain of is that the P38 is the best 4x4 I've towed with. I've not tried an L322 or D3 but I would imagine that they and the Land Cruiser Amazon are the only ones I can see being better than it. I pulled the same 3 tonne digger, on the same trailer, on the same road I totalled the land cruiser on and it was brilliant. I've towed rally cars all over the country in a hurry, I'm scratching my head at how the guy with the BMW behind it got into trouble, he must have had it completely rear weighted even before she dropped to motorway height to get it snaking or else had a completely inappropriate trailer.

Fur Trapper, over here you just don't get the full size double wheel pick ups you Yanks have. If you need to tow more than 3,500kg over here you need to go to a truck with air brakes, its as simple as that. So I'll qualify Saints statement and say that the RR is the best 3,500kg max tow capacity 4x4 available.

You have your location as NC where is that?

And SpudH, yes he had it rear weighted. Big Big mistake lost two cars and a trailer!!! I also saw the trailer it wasn't up to the weight and the whole front was ripped off.
Done a lot of towing in my time, had the odd fright too, certainly makes you learn. Was brought up on a farm so towing something every day. Have had Land Rover Classics, P38s and they are simply excellent at towing. Also have a Discovery 3 for a month whilst Land Rover sorted a lock set out and that towed brill too.

Was talking to socool4real as he is a yank in the marines. I know your vehicles are smaller as is your roads. Just wonder why he would chose a land rover in the states is all ? Here we tow upto 20,000# with a pickup with electric brakes:D and a 40 ft trailer

Motorway height is 25mm/1 inch lower than standard. If it drops 4 inches it's on the bump stops.

Sure did(she didn't willingly) The wife likes them and the RR Sport is the only one that I like, the rest is overrated it's like you said if i'm wanting to climb, tow, or need anything to do a man's job it would definitely be an F250 or a 350. All i'm gonna do is pull the bike with the Range.
