About to throw the 200tdi into my series 3 without turbo, and while messing about with it on the floor i've lost the bolts that hold the clutch onto the flywheel (still got about two...)

Can't seem to find them listed anywhere to order, are these going to be a special type of bolt or can I go to my local automotive nuts and bolts type people and ask for "some of these ones please" ?

8mm x 20 mm 10.9 ,but 8.8 std bolts will do nicely

Ask landrover garage for the part number then order off brookwells or somewhere

Don't they need to be hi-tensile or summat...

when I did a clutch on an Austin yonks ago the stupid muppet at the parts place gave me standard ones,4 sheered straight off out of the eight on there, went back turned out the whole 'bin' was wrong.

Did nothing for my sense of humour tho...

they are normally 10.9s but i seen so many std 8.8s that have never failed plus you have 3 dowles that id be happy to use 8.8s

Sorted it - did have one problem though!

Managed to find some at work that were 8.8s, no problem... Followed the 200tdi workshop manual supplement that said it used spring washers, and half sheared one in the flywheel.....managed to get it out in one piece thankfully. This was to the correct torque setting etc...

Turns out the workshop manual must have been wrong! Dug out one of the original ones I had and it had a normal washer and not a spring washer.....

You live and learn
