mines back at the doctors :(

shes reeeeallly smoking now, i think its blue annoyingly. I have asked the garage to check all the work they have done after my cam belt catastophe so if that doesnt fix it i can rule out timing/valve clearances etc.

if not looks like ill have to have the head off and redo all the seals and valve grind.

Im just praying it isnt the piston rings gone....

I wouldn't worry about your fuel tank breather, i had exactly the same question so i broached it to Devon 4x4 and they claimed that they didnt bother with the fuel tank breather on their Comp/Challenge trucks so i think we are going to be fairly safe....

On another note, I still cant get my SWF down! new aerial and mount, plus cable from thunderpole, its much better, but still around 2.5 on channel one and 1.8 on channel 40 (and thats with a long whip antenna), is it possible it could be shorting through the transceiver case, then the mount and into the bolt to the roof spar?

Hope you get the smoking sorted,

What you have to take into account the arial, would have been manufactured to a there abouts tolerance, it could still be to long, a couple of mm's will make a differance, trouble is its hard to lenghen a aerial. as your having a higher SWR on the lower channels. is there some one you can borrow an aerial from?

My swr is between 2 & 2.5 (if I wanted to transmit miles I would be ****ed off, because it wouldn't be ideal) but i can still transmit a good 6 miles -- a little more with a burner -- which is more than enough when we've got ourselfs a convoy!

Sorted my intercooler out last night. I put it in the dishwasher on full and it has come up a treat. Got to refit it in a moment. Will be doing my inlet manifolds at some point.

Just put in on the bottom shelf of the dishwasher with nothing else in obviously and let it go on the hottest setting. The Finish powerball really brings it up.

Got to do another one now as I've just sold it on eBay

Matt..

that is genius....

Im going to do mine in this dish washer :).

Although, my irate mother came in the other day brandishing her measuring jug, demanding to know why it was full of a yellowish fluid, I explained to her that it was Diesel. Needless to say, she was not best pleased...

Ok,

Question, looks like i MIGHT have the have the cylinder head off this weekend. Just waiting to hear back from the garage. Is anyone free to give me a hand getting it off and on again?

hoping to change the valve seals, head gasket and possible regrind if the valves look damaged...

Ok so update, just heard from the garage, looks like it was their fault and the timing on the fuel pump was slightly out, so will see how that goes over the next week or so.

Obviously that wouldnt affect it if the smoke was blue, but might of made a minor bit of blue smoke seem a whole lot worse....

Yes, the dishwasher is quite risky but as I've been working nights, I quickly did it when I got in around 3am.

Have you had any veg oil in your tank as that can cause a little blue smoke? ;)
