Bonnet removal

May seem a daft question, but need to remove my bonnet to work on it, is there anything I need to know or do to make it easier or is it a case of just unbolt and then bolt back on?

Wasn't sure if there was any trick to make sure it was all aligned etc when re-fitting....

Just loosely tighten it up, close, see what alignments like..repeat to death...give up. Drink beer.

Don't really think that comes into the equation with Landys mate

Best bet to get it near right is to make sure the washers on the bolts fit back to the original marks left on the hinges.

Wot Strom said re aligning just nip up the bolts and close the bonnet then check ya have equal gaps between bonnet and wings. If ya want you can draw round the washers before ya undo the bolts.

Those will be the washers that disappear into the engine bay never to be found when you loosen the unloosenable 13mm bolts.

It's how I've been fixing most of my problems with the series, hit it til it co-operates and if it dont after a good smack then heat it, grind it or hit it some more


On a disco you might damage your paint work though so a rubber mallet could be better

Nah, was using my sledge hammer the other weekend trying to remove a bolt, plus a blow torch....but finally got my steering guard fitted
