Always wanted a toolbox, so today I treated myself to one.

Chuffed to bits with it

Anyone else got any toolboxes to share?

Now't wrong with old tools, good quality gear from years ago is often better than anything you can buy today.

I was looking at the tool packages at machine mart, but thought, ive got most of the tools in the set, and I wouldnt throw the old ones away because they have been passed down from by Grandads.

So I decided to get a decent toolbox, to save everything being thrown at the back of the shed, in a complete mess unable to find anything.

Then when I do a job, and need a certain tool that I havent got, ill get the tool, and stick it in my box. Eventually I will have a complete toolbox full of all the tools needed for a landy.

Thats my plan anyway, will probably take the rest of my life to accomplish...

I got a traditional red snap on roller chest and top cab that I use for work then just a couple of Stanley toolboxes with some Halfords pro stuff in for day to day home and away use.

I have got a sealey roller cab and top box with blue point or snap on tools inside.
Want a bigger box as I can't fit all me tools in it.
But if I go too big then it gets expensive.

Whats the build quality like? We had come clarke tool chests at work and they fwll to pieces after a few weeks.

i'm after a decent one, and that looks nice.

Something on ball bearings is good. Halfords industrial top box and roller bottom is what I am going to get next to keep at home.

Quality looks excellent. Really seems to be well built.

This is the ones I have got

Clarke CBB209BG HD Plus 9 Drawer Tool Chest (Black & Gold) - Machine Mart

Clarke CBB217BG HD Plus 7 Drawer Mobile Tool Cabinet (Black & Gold) - Machine Mart

Is really nice, roller ball runners, everything fits perfectly. I cant fault it.

Is solid, really heavy and well built.

I have new tools and my grandads 40 year old tools. I always go back to the old ones. I bent a pair of brand new wire crimpers last week so I got out the ones that he did his apprenticeship with and they did the job. I love old tools.

They are nicer to use. Seem better made, plus they hold memories, and jobs are easier because I know he would be helping if he was still here.

They ARE better made Rik, at a time when tools were not made cheaply. Today's cheap tools are from inferior quality metal hence the price! At 80yrs old, my Dad is passing me his tools that he collected over the years too.

What use is a massive tool chest... you need several small tool chests so you can put them in the back of the landy whenever you go out... else how do you get home again?
