I saw you arriving as I was wandering around. Went back to the car with a jar of honey I'd bought from the guy with the series I for sale, saw yours next to mine. Later you'd gone.

Was a good show, packed out.
 
Attacked the passenger underseat box last night. I want 2 batteries and the Series one only squeezes one in, so out with the old and in with the new. YRM do a bigger double battery size box. I've got the old one out with much use of drill to remove the rivets and angle grinder to finish it off. Offered up the new box and it looks like it'll do the job nicely.
I've bought another Numax battery and a X-Eng split charge system, so look forward to blowing myself up with the Devil's Work...... Electricity.
 
Split charges aren't too hard to do........

Was going to do my Clutch this weekend and starter motor, but I was a numpty in Canada. And feel off the back of a pickup truck, Sliced my knee open, had it all cleaned out there and stitched up. They missed a bit of gravel in it, so had it re opened yesterday once i got home, so layed up in bed and on crutches. Bugger!

Difficult blaming them now you're back in the UK, you won't have a leg to stand on.;)
 
Evening all, I'm after a bit of advice from those of you in the know..... Decided to do my handbreak today as it's been a bit iffy, but when I got the drum off I found the problem was that it was covered in oil. From what I've read it sounds like the seal on the transfer box needs doing (topped the oil up, took about 1/4 pint).
Now bearing in mind I haven't done any spannering since the days of MkII Escorts and Mk III Cortinas is this something I can do myself or should I take it to a garage? Alternatly if someone wants to give me a hand (ie make sure I don't stuff it up) there will be much appreciation and beer tokens involved. Many Thanks.

to be honest I would do the job myself. It is not as difficult as it might seem at first. Kai did my one on the V8 when he was just turned 11 years old. There are detailed instructions on Rave if you have it - if not many of us can provide it for you. I am not an expert, as I stress many times, but if you want a hand spannering then we'll happily come over and lend a hand.

I would take the opportunity of the delay to soak the handbrake components to get rid of the oil contamination too... (If it is too far gone we have replacement (used) units for the discovery here... not certain whether it is the same on a defender or not)

Drive to Devon last night was ****e, 4 hours from London and that's in Subaru. Poxy pikies in their caravans. Back home tomorrow.
