Hi Guys..
my brother has bought a lightweight series 3, 88in ex army, with the intention of restoring it and whilst servicing it he can not find a filler/level plug in the rear diff.
he has a haynes manual but there is not any type of filler/level plug where mr haynes shows.
he has both rear wheels off for access but is stumped..
any help gratefully received.
thanks
John....

if its had 3.5 diffs fitted it may not have some have filler in rear diff pan ,earlier in diff housing drivers side halfway up near diff securing nuts, later diffs dont have filler here and rely on filler in rear pan,if this is case you can fit filler (drill weld nut on )or fill through stub axle with half shaft removed and axle jacked up on that side

It's on top of the diff 'fins' just behind where the prop bolts on, iirc.

we have looked there as the haynes manual stated, but there is no filler/level plug anywhere on the diff, only a drain plug.....must of been a cobled together repair at some point in its life....
regards
john....
