Electrical gremlins

My new 89 Rangerover 3.5 efi arrived yesterday... However it wont run, I turn the key to position two and sometimes the dash lights will come on. If I leave it on for a while it will sometimes turn off.

As soon as it goes to position 3 to start everything dies and does not come back on. T

This has to be all done while jumping her off another car..

I have taken all the fuses out of the aux pannel as I thought I may have a fault. I am also getting voltage drop across the batter sometimes. Nothing makes sense !

Any help would be much appreciated!

Check all the earth connections and battery terminals. Is the battery itself good?

Can we safely assume you can not take it back then

When you say that you're jumping off another car
a) have the other car running
b) have the earth jump lead connected to a good lump of metal away from the battery on your car

I was being daft and some strange things were happening with my volt meter, solenoid was replace and the whole thing re wired.

Oh and this was after I chopped the roof off to make a convertible.

The She is running now but lacking power, think it is more to do with timing and the Lucas flapper when the bottom blew out of it trying to use easy start.

Anyway, slowly getting there.. Absolute money pit but it hopefully should be finished in a few years...
