hi folks ..i keep reading about split intrcooler hoses here and the original pipes you buy are **** and keep rubbing holes in theirselves and splitting /leaking ..also the feed is seriously restricted by the flattened plastic section for the air and intercooler and if you pay the extortionate prices for the "silicone hose kit" it still rubs on holes on the mounting brackets still leaks from the air sensor and you still have restricted feed from the flat plastic section ....so heres mine !!!!! i been running it for about a year now and what a huge difference !! doesnt need remapping as the learning paramaters of the ecu are great enough to adjust for the extra flow ..........mine has been remapped as i have done loads and loads of other mods that require a remap ..but this on its own doesnt ..only costs about £70 -£80 to do

ENJOY ......oh and yes i am gay as **** !!!!!!!:D

Where is the output of the turbo gone ? That delivers, through the L-shaped tube, the compressed air via the EGR-valve to the engine ?? And of what material is all this made ?

i dont quite recognise what "l shaped" tube you mean the only pipe to the egr from the intercooler is the one thats been replaced with the 180 degree red bend on the right front to the top intercooler feed ...and the vacum pipe to the egr is still there but blanked off as i am running an egr blanking mod ......its all a.s.h. 6 ply silicone and aluminium im curious now as to what pipe you mean tho ..cheers

looks really good, did you have the metal pipe made or did you buy it in sections?
has the mpg been effected?

thanx a lot landie ..the ally tube is just 51mm for the intercooler and 70mm for the air feed ...i bought the 70mm, 90 degree ally bend but the rest of the all straight tube was just from the garage .......no difference to mpg but low down power ..pulling off from junctions etc is up a fair bit ....the turbo spools up much quicker with the ram air ..and the ally keeps the air much cooler than plastic flat box **** thing....:D

Thanks for the info, looks a good mod.
no trouble .if you want a complete parts list let me know and i will post it up here ..its a great mod especialy with an egr blanking mod .. !!!!!!! and **** easy to do it takes about an hour as its only jubilee clips and quite cheap to do in the scope of things toooooooooooooo

Hi
Looks great, i've been thinking of doing something like this myself. I must admit i had not thought of removing the plastic pipes. Any chance you could post part numbers. Also did you get a kit for the EGR bypass? at the moment i have just removed vac pipe but i would like to remove the whole valve.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the info, yes, it's all clear now, I was puzzled by the missing L-shaped tube (your B connection on the original), didn't realize you got rid of all the plastic tubes on top of the engine, that's why I couldn't figure out what was done exactly. Looks great but wouldn't this give problems when passing MOT ?? Overhere you are not allowed to modify whatsoever on your car. Thus guys like "Wheeler dealers" and "Chop shop" would not have a chance to survive overhere. (For example: if on the car's COC (Certificate of conformity) the tiresize is 215/65x16 as only size you must not try to go there with a 225/60x16 (unless the difference is something like 1% or so. When the rim size is 16 no way to go there with 15 or 17" rims, the same with the brakes, if the disc size has been upgraded for better safety etc.. it's a no-go, the car has to be and has to stay "standard" as it was when it left the factory.)

you will still get a fast pass on mot emmissions wih this mod as the iternal volume of the flat plastic pipes and the internal volume of the new all ones are almost exactly the same ......but different shapes ....the plastic pipes restrict the flow greatly but the ally ones are straight through ram air ones ...if you buy the silicone red parts in black and paint the polished ally pipes black i dont beleive it will ever be picked up ......but for the sake of 4 jubilee clips you could always put the old unit back on for mot ..it takes seconds ...................@richie jones ...its more of a parts list than part numbers my friend as its all scratch built
yes i run an egr blanking mod and :-
s/s unequal tubular headers
inlet manifold lifted 15mm
monster fmic
cyclone crankase breather
resprung actuator
fuel lab,s fpr
hks boost controller
and boost solenoid
3 1/2" s/s straight through exhaust with twin outlet tailpipe
3 1/2" decat pipe
3 1/2" turbo up pipe
k+n filtercharger
intercooler feed mod
ram air feed mod
walbro 225 uprated pump
garrett turbo with ,A.F.05 titanium turbo fin assy with
acl race bearings
hks turbo timer
and all remapped to run with the mods ....and dont forget to uprate the brakes !!!!!!!!!! lol i use mintex drilled and slotted twin vent discs with kevlar godspeed pads and just godspeed kevlars on the back ..with goodridge s/s braided hoses an ap fluid
theres eibach springs on there too......................lol i am a sad bastard tho!!!!!!!!!!

for the mod here tho you will need ;_
180 degree bend/silicone
45 silicone
90 ally
250mm straight silicone
500mm of ally
ALL IN 51MM FOR THE INTERCOOLER FEED
and a 45 silicone
90 ally
250mm straight silicone
500mm ally
ALL IN 68MM FOR THE AIR FEED ..THEN JUST COPY WHATS IN THE PIC ........

forgot to mention ..ebay "mr silicone" is the cheapest ...an "ap autoperformance" for the ally....are by far the cheapest

theres also recaro,s ,eibach springs on koni gas shocks momo gear knob ,pedals, and handbrake on there and it didnt cost much at all concidering .......

Hi
Just been putting a shopping list together so i can copy your mod, just one thing how does the silicon tube connect to the air filter box? i notice that the pipe is oval where it enters the filter box, does the silicon hose fit the oval section and did you need to cut any of the plastic pipe?
cheers

where you get your twin exhausts from mate ?

i made em i bought a duplex s/s box some pipe and 2 tailpipes from a mate who has an exhaust centre ..demon tweeks sell it in bits too and welded it up on the truck tacked it first then took it off to s/s weld it propper ...i had to do the same with the de cat and tubular s/s headers ....i cut the flanges out of billet on my mates cnc and used a bender /rolers for coning bike exhausts it only cost me £300 for the whole shabang right through...i had to make or mod all the mods i done because theres nothing available to fit straight off the shelf ..other than standard parts ..lol :)

Hi, thinking of doing a similar mod for the air hoses, but found that the air hose for the large air filter at the back of the engine bay simply goes to an opening above the drivers side wheel arch where the air goes straight in, so i suppose my question is does anybody know why it's routed from there and could it not have a mesh / filter located over the oval opening on the filter box instead?
Would reduce cost by half :)

Cheers.

I have seen this in the gallery. Didn't know there was a post related to it though. Nice work there. Not often you see a Freelander engine bay looking like that, all functional as well which gives it all the more credibility. Liking it a lot.
