Some of you may have noticed that the forum was down for some time last night. This was due to a rather large crash and the resulting time needed to recover from it. There may need to be more downtime/slowdowns as we investigate further problems with the server and increase backup intervals incase it all goes tits up before the solution is found. If the forum is gone, I will keep you as updated as I can by twitter and facebook. Recently there have been a few requests for a [How To] Forum. You will notice that all vehicle categories in the Land Rover Talk area now have a sub forum for this. The idea is to keep the useful info in the correct category making it easy to find, and to keep them free from clutter. Anyone can create a thread in the sub forums, but they will not apear until they are approved. Each thread will be discussed in the Secure Unit (god help us) then once approved will appear it the correct sub forum, with an obvious title. There are already many useful threads around the site, if you think any are good enough, point them out to a mod and we will copy them for approval.

Over the last couple of days I have upgraded all the software that runs this site. I'm still not finished yet and there will be bugs... If you have any problems posting in the forums then you may have to do a hard refresh. To do this hold down your CTRL key and press F5. The gallery/reviews/classifieds sections are not complete yet, but should be finished today.

Please can all Landyzoners be aware that if they receive an email or pm from 'security team' OR 'security analyst' or any other similar user names or group names or if they see a post from any of the above, they are spammers and they are trying to get you to click on an 'alleged' anti virus link. I am getting many reports that people are using the PM system to spam other members about other websites. We don't usually have a problem with people putting links in sigs or linking to relevant material on other websites, but using landyzones bandwidth for outright spamming is a bit out of order. Any reports up to now have been disregarded, but from now on anyone PM spamming or blatently spamming in the forum will be slapped on the wrists If anyone wants any advice about how to gain visits to other websites without spamming, then feel free to PM me.

I have integrated the alt.fan.landrover usenet newsgroup into LandyZone. This gives us access to even more land rover information and more people to interact with. If you make a post in that section then it will be sent out into the newsgroup. Please read the announcement in the alt.fan.landrover forum for more information. You have to have over 10 posts to be able to post a message into that section, this is due to posts being sent all over the world and not just remaining on our server :) we don't want annoying people to abuse the newsgroup and tarnish the landyzone name, do we! :)

On Wed 25th July the Server that Landyzone is on will have to be shut down for essential maintenance This will happen at 08:00 and should only take around 30 minutes.
