Ok i'm hoping some new members who can't post or start threads may look in here, (hence the shouting) If you are a new member and can't post yet it is probably because you have not clicked on the link in the confirmation email that was sent to you by Landyzone. These emails are often filtered out as junk, particularly if you are stupid enough to have AOL or Norton. Once the link has been clicked you should be up and running. However for those of you that have done this and can't log in, Note that Usernames and Passwords ARE case specific. As the passwords are automatically generated by the server, they may not read as a word. 0 may be o for example. Try to copy and paste from the email. I'm praying that this message reaches the...

Me and roy have been chatting to one of the organisers of http://www.bristolandwestlandrovershow.com/index.html His name is Mark Pattenden and he is a member on Landyzone as Discovery2man and he should now have a nice shiny orange username. If you have a look on the website you will notice that the show isn't the normal commercialised show, it's for charity BLESMA Basically Mark likes to set himself a bit of a challenge, and for this show he wants to have the record for largest Land rover gathering in one place. The Blesma challenge is to get more than 1000 Land Rovers into the shape of a Land rover for the record. We are planning to have a club stand at the the show, and from speaking to Mark it sounds like it could be a very good...
It's been a long time coming but we are almost ready to order some forum stickers:D As its stands we need to decide whether people would prefer internal or external ones, then once we know roughly how many, I will place an order. So if your interested in having one, please vote in the poll so we have a reasonably accurate number of how many people are interested. The cost will be £4 including P&P. This is based on ordering in batches of 100. For payment we will probably set a payment link on the site for paypal. For people who want one and don't have paypal i'm pretty sure we will be able to sort something out. They will be 6" wide and about 4" high
If you can read this you have made it to the new system. We've been working on this for some time now, but I'm sure there will be problems and things not quite working right. The picture gallery is still being imported, it will eventually be here! We are now running xenForo software, which is a bit more up to date than the 6 year old vBulletin 3.8 software that we previously ran. Some new features you may like, some you may not! Please reply to this with problems and general comments. Preferably constructive! Somethings have still to be added, some things have still to be programmed. Really we shouldn't have opened up the forum again so soon, but you all pressured us(well @Rosie did) :D Please bear with us on requests and smileys...
Found this out from the plod: From the 15th February 08 all the Speed Cameras in the Variable Speed Limit section of the M25 near Heathrow Airport (JCT 10-15) are going Digital and the activation limit is being lowered. They are currently the older film type cameras and Set at 90mph when the Variable Limit Signs are not in operation. The new digital cameras are going to be set at the normal 10% 0f the speed limit + 2mph (80mph + and you're taking a risk basically) when the signs are not in use i.e. national speed limit. I can't confirm the activation limit when the signs are set (variable limits showing) but believe it would be the same 10% + 2mph of the speed shown by the sign at that time.
As you are all aware, The ability to take the **** and have the **** taken out of each other is widly accepted on this forum. People come onto this forum to socialise and to ask for help when needed. It has been noted that just recently when people are asking for help they are being barraged with comments and posts that are neither helpful nor constructive. It is one thing to take the micky out of a well established member who you may know. It is a different ball game when it comes to a newcomer asking for help and being told where to get off or what he or she should do with their choice of vehicle We do not wish to discourage banter but please can you try and reserve it where possible for the general forums rather than the vehicle...

As most of you will have noticed there have been a few user name changes recently. To be honest changing user names is something that i tried to avoid from day 1 because i'm pretty sure that in doing so i'm making a rod for my own back. Doing it for one may well just open the flood gates buy hey ho, one rule for all as they say. So those who have requested user name changes, I will try to get them done today ( i'm GMT +8 hrs at the mo though) Either way there are going to have to be some boundaries, anyone who has made a genuine mistake signing up, then fine i will change them no problem, but long term members are going to have to have a note in there title saying who they formally were. Changing the name of a regular poster could...

You may have noticed some downtime of the forum in the last few weeks. This is due to the large amount of traffic the forum is now getting. I have been tweaking the server but at the end of the day it's time for new hardware. I've ordered a new server which should be available this weekend and should solve the downtime problems and increase the speed of the site. Its an uber super server with octoprocs and gigabananas and scsi's and flashy lights. Only problem is it costs a bloody fortune. I'm not one to normally beg, but most any forum(especially big ones) usually have a donation section so users can help to pay for the costs involved in keeping us running. We've got thousands of visitors to this site every day and if only a few...
I've just found a promising looking new website. Located at http://www.landroversreunited.com this is a well designed Land Rover version of friends reunited. You can enter details of land rovers you own or have owned and hopefully when the database is built up you will be able to do searches for land rovers you used to own and see where they are now. The site has only just started so many features are not yet available but you can enter your land rover details and browse other landrovers. Go on, get over there and have a look: http://www.landroversreunited.com
We seem to be inundated with reports of stolen landy's at the moment. Just wondering whether to make a 'stolen' section within general chat. That way people can have there own threads, and in effect the most recent ones will be much more visible to those who want to read and help. What does everyone think?
Contrary to common belief last night was NOT about heavy handed modding. It was about keeping deliberate SPAM off Landyzone. Last night happened because members of another site decided they were going to make a seemingly innocent question up and then answer it with a link to their site. DESPITE WHAT IS BEING DENIED ELSEWHERE THE PERSON LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WAS AN ALTER EGO OF THE SAME PERSON HE HIMSELF WAS LOOKING FOR. That is all that needs to be known. They were dealt with in the same way that any other spammer is dealt with. WE DO NOT LIKE BANNING PEOPLE AND DO NOT WANT TO BAN PEOPLE. PLEASE DON'T MAKE US HAVE TO CONTINUE.
OK, landyzone is now back to the standard software and has been fully updated to the latest version of vbulletin. There are still a few bugs to iron out and the gallery/forsale/reviews section wont be updated for another few days or so. Sorry about the time taken to get us back! :)
Yes, finally, we are upgrading the forum software that LandyZone is running on. On Monday July 20th LandyZone will be taken down in the morning and converted to XenForo, a modern forum software package that is a huge upgrade over our current outdated vBulletin installation. LandyZone will be down all day and maybe into the evening. I'm really hoping it doesn't take that long though. The new software is fully responsive, which called for a total redesign of the site. This means it works as well on mobile phones and tablets as it does on your computer. No more tapatalk required! A few of us have been working on the new system for a while now, and whilst we hope to have got most of the bugs out of the way, I'm sure with such...
LandyZone is now offering forum sponsorship for all individual forums. You will notice on the main forum home page that some forums are beginning to be sponsored by land rover related companies. Any companies that sponsor forums will be allowed to advertise their products on the site. Some of these sponsors may be offering discounts for LandyZone members, so be sure to ask if you contact them. We are also offering commercial accounts if you have a Land Rover related business and would like to post in the forums about it. Commercial Account users and Forum Sponsors names will appear in orange in posts and on the userlist. For further details, send me a message or email, and I will give you the details.
