Yesterday at 13.30 I swapped my Disco for my new(ish) Skoda Fabia. Yes, I am really missing everything that was good about my Disco but I have immediately noticed one thing my Skoda has over my old Disco, average mpg currently showing 52.5!

Funnily enough Mrs 627 has told me if I get a Landy of any description again the extra load space won't be needed as I'll be on my own! :(

re mpg, I have seen figures of combined fuel economy being 57.6mpg. Which I liked! :D

Unfortunately after 15 months of Land Rover ownership due to a major life change I've had to do the unthinkable and trade my Disco in for a 'sensible family car'. After several large repair bills and having to compete mpg wise with a car that regularly does 60+ the final straw came last month...

The water pump was replaced exactly 12 months ago but I have book Disco in with garage that replaced pump originally to find problem and fix it.

Man at garage said a new pump is £50.

Actually I was told "it'll be a little under £200". :p

It looks like I'll have to take my Disco into local specialist and ask them to find cause of problem. :drama:

I've been quoted £200 for a new water pump and fitting but also included is the replacing of the P Gasket to avoid any problems with that in the future. Is this a particularly bad price from a very good Land Rover specialist?

I've just been out for a short drive (2.5 miles x2) and noticed temp started rising after 1 mile, it stopped when needle was about halfway. I stopped at shop for 10 minutes and when I got back to Disco engine temperature hadn't changed and didn't alter for 2.5 mile return journey. The route was...

I've just been out and had a look at back of radiator and it appears to be fine front and back. What should I be looking for exactly?

The last three times I've taken my '94 Discovery out I've noticed the engine is overheating but when I checked the coolant and oil levels this morning they were fine, what could be the problem? The three trips have each been 10 miles out, 10 back, mostly dual carriageway. :flame2:

I took my Disco to a garage and as I suspected the pipe that carries the pas fluid from reservoir to steering is split. Unfortunately the earliest it can be fixed is 5th Jan so what I'd like to know now is am I damaging the steering by driving with no fluid in the system? :behindsofa:
