Hoping someone can help me here please. My 03 td4 has developed a faint whining sound when changing gear. It sort of does it on the change, not on acceleration so I'm hoping it's not turbo. It sounds more like it might be from the clutch or gearbox. Any thoughts anyone?

Does anybody know if it's possible to disconnect the Abs cus it seems to me it's more trouble than it's worth. I'm old enough to remember what we did before it was invented. I don't suppose it is cus I'm sure we'd all have heard about it by now but wouldn't it be great to get rid of them three...

I've read all I can find about this including the post with the photo of the connector on the abs unit. The connector on my 03 Td4 isn't quite the same but the terminals are numbered. Can anybody tell me what numbers relate to which sensors. If I'm reading my meter right both the rear sensors...

Just a very basic question. I'm thinking of getting rid of my freelander and getting a defender. From reading the posts the 2lt Tdi seems to thought of as the best engine. My question is. Is it the same engine as in my Td4 which is basically a bmw or if not what is it.

Just checked the resistance of my abs sensors. Between 715 and 730 on three of them and nothing on the other. According to what I can find out it should be up arround 1000. Is that the same for all years, mine is an 03 td4? Is it the same reading at the plug on the abs unit as it is down nearer...

I'm checking the resistance on abs sensors tomorrow on my 03 td4 as per "royturbodiesels" post. Is it definately ok to disconnect the battery? I did this once on a peogeot I owned and then had to pay to get the engine immobiliser unlocked. Don't want to make a similar mistake.
