    Ignition barrel position

it's a 1989 90 with 300 tdi with a 300tdi-type steering wheel and column. i always took the key out when trying to fit it. Will the steering lock latch slide into a notch or something?

    Ignition barrel position

I have recently changed the ignition barrel on my 90. At first I thought the switch was on the way out so I replaced the switch however it turned out to be just a loose slider on the starter. Anyway, the steering lock thingy wasn't activating so I decided to replace the whole barrel. Now, my...

    Valeo HD clutch slipping

not noticeable to me. obviously there's the shiny bit where the clutch rubs and the non-shiny bit where a clutch never rubbed :)

    Valeo HD clutch slipping

I have just fitted a heavy duty valeo clutch to my 300tdi 90. So far I have always fitted standard Borg & Beck clutches but they don't last very long so this time i went for the HD one. to my chagrin, if i put my foot down, the bugger slips. So I pulled the engine out yet again (a day after I...

    Oil pressure switch wiring woes

    Oil pressure switch wiring woes

The oil pressure light on my 300tdi 90 (retrofitted) has been giving me some grief for the past months. It is flashing intermittedly. At first it did so when the engine was cold but now it's sporadic. I have an oil pressure gauge fitted and that is showing me that there is sufficient pressure...

Gearbox / transfer case oil for Puma

I need to change the gearbox and transfer case oils on a friend's tdci and am finding conflicting views as to which oils should be used. Could someone please clarify? I have read that the MT82 box should use a 75w90 GL4 oil (definitely not GL5) on one site but then saw that it should use MTF94...

V8 clutch slave cylinder on 300tdi

I would like to fit a V8 clutch slave cylinder to my 300tdi before it does my knee in. I have had the vehicle for 17 years but ever since I hit my 40s i'm becoming a nagging old fart. Is there anything else that needs to be replaced in the process? Flexi hose perhaps?

    Sudden Poor Running

Sounds like a lift pump to me

    Boost ring

The vid is a bit misleading. In the vid, the job had already been done and the bolts had been replaced with Allen bolts hence, a cut-down allen key was sufficient. I don't have 90 degrees torx wrenches (will buy if necessary) but to my knowledge, torx wrenches cannot be cut down as the torx bis...

    Boost ring

I am considering fitting a boost pin and ring to my 300tdi. I understand that the pin is an easy job but removing the cap where the ring is to be fitted is very, very fiddly. Any pointers before I pull the complete injection pump out?

    300tdi turbo core

I got mine from turbo-rebuild.co.uk. It's an original item and is a very simple swap.

    Knackered steering box.......

As v8250 said, it can be rebuilt. The main shaft may need machining though. Where I come from we rebuild boxes all the time but in most instances, a simple re-kit will not do the job. We'll have to have the shaft machined.

    Clutch issues

When it happened to me it turned out to be a warped clutch cover. Gearbox or engine out time i'm afraid.

    Hub wont go back on

The old bearing probably seized at some point and wore a bit of a shoulder onto the stub axle. Sand it down a little bit. Getting it turned down on a lathe would be the best route to take but some careful sanding cannot hurt.

    UJ on 110

I need to change universal joints on a mate's 110 td5 (early type with salisbury axle). Which type of UJ is fitted to these vehicles? The ones with large cups or small cups? Part number would be helpful too. Thanks.

    300tdi tensioner bearing

Sorted mates thank you. As bluedog rightly said I am in malta so we don't have pennies. 5 years ago I had fitted a 1 euro cent coin underneath a brand new tensioner that squealed and it stayed put until recently. I just fitted a 20 euro cent coin in its place and all is quiet now. It cost a fair...

    300tdi tensioner bearing

Would anyone know what else squeaks in a 300tdi fan belt tensioner apart from the bearing? Whenever I replace a bearing the squeal never goes away. Only a new tensioner sorts it and this really drives me round the bend especially since so many posts on the internet stare that a replacement...
