    90 Petrol Fuel Pump Connection?

Thanks disco. I've got no probs whipping the old one off, but how to I get it onto the new part that already has the olive in place? I've given it a precautionary tug with the pliers but it's not budging (I admit I could try harder!) Cheers

    90 Petrol Fuel Pump Connection?

I'm in the process of replacing the in-tank fuel pump on my V8 90, and the connection on the old pump has a nut and olive connection that screws onto the fuel line. Trouble is, the new part (PRC7019 if you're interested) has come with an olive all of it's own, but no nut behind it... so how...

td4 still got smoke problems when cold.

dunno about your first question, but the answer to the second is that something is getting left in your exhaust after you turn the engine off, and it burns off after a few minutes when you start it again - probly oil, but judging by your first question... fuel?

    Wierd vibrating noise

problem is if it IS in the gearbox then you'll have to start looking inside it! you can rule out the UJ though by getting underneath and giving each joint a waggle - hopefully it won't waggle too much... at least that rules out the cheaper option of replacing one of them.

    door adjusment

I'm only posting this cos of past experience, cos if your truck is looked after proper like you say, then this probably won't be the problem... BUT:- Have you checked the chassis recently...?! last time I couldn't shut the door it was cos the chassis was flexing cos it was so rusty . It...

Wheel bearing or prop-shaft UJ most likely... when was the last time you greased your nipples?

    Wheels

If you've got a disco 1 back axle (with the disc brakes) then rimmer bros do a spacer set that will take the hubs to PCD 5x120 - which is fairly standard for BMW rims. You'd have to check that the X5 rims are that PCD though, then all you have to do is worry about how far outside the bodyline...

    Botching Bastards

poisunally I've given up trying to "make the gasket work better" by splodging anything else on it... I always ended up with an uneven layer of hylomar (or whatever) with the effect that it leaked like a leaky thing from Wales. I figure that LR spent a few quid on working out what gasket would...

I get about 160 miles to a tank. I'd love to be able to stay at 50, but it just won't let me...

    Changing axles...

Righty, here's wot I wanted the rear discs for:- 1) I do a bit of playing and I'm fed up of getting stones in me shoes (even though I've drilled out the drain holes on the drums, something always gets stuck) 2) It's got a 3.9Efi in there and I'd like to improve the braking I thought I might as...

    Changing axles...

Yep I'm looking into getting a disco1 rear axle ... might have to wait a few weeks at the mo as I'm about to move house (close to Salisbury Plain, so bring on the extended playtimes! Woot! :D) so it'll have to wait a bit now... BUT it will give me a chance to do that A-frame balljoint while...

    Changing axles...

Cheers Redhand.. maybe that's the way forward then. Shame though - I was toying with the idea of getting some of them disco2 shiny shoes... but they won't fit on the disco1 hubs. Ho hum

    Alternative seats

I put a pair of old Rover216 seats in the front of my truck cab and the cubby box still fits between 'em. Had to do some minor weldage to the runners so they can be bolted down and still slide (and hence still provide access to the battery). The only other difference was that I had to swap...

    Changing axles...

Righty - I've decided that I need to take the plunge and replace the rear axle on my '87 90 so I can finally get disc brakes all round. Having done a bit of a search through these forums it looks like the best way to go is to get a complete disco2 rear axle and plonk it straight on there ...

    exhaust hooks?

Excellent - glad you're on your way. FYI I always get my part no.s from the bearmach catalogues - they're on their website and you can download them in pdf format - some pretty good diagrams in there, especially for exhausty bits. happy unboltin' and reboltin' up.

rear a-frame bushes and ball joint renewal

Dude this thread just saved me a hell of a lot of stress - this needs doing on me 90 but I tink I might not bother and get the pro's to have a look at it instead! Pheeeeeeeew! and thanks a million!

    exhaust hooks?

Sounds liks you might have the wrong bit... although - was the 110 modified before you got it? As a rule of thumb though your exhaust should come with the right hooks! And yes they are welded in place. I reckon you go back to where you bought it, make sure they understood what engine you've...
