I tried using the uncoded key with the door fob today - and found the door fob is just that. It unlocks the doors and doesn't immobilise unlike the guy from the key cutting place said. Looks like I could do with getting a coded key sorted sometime, but won't be bothering with the door unlock...

I've only got one key and fob for mine but went and got an uncoded key cut today - the bloke in there said that I can use the uncoded key with the fob, and just keep the original coded key as a spare....He reckoned that both the coded key and fob have immobiliser chips in them - I haven't had...

I got pretty much no service history (other than looking up all previous MOTs) when I bought my Freelander just over a month ago. So far all seems to be mostly ok, but it's done around 75k miles and I've no idea whether the VCU has ever been replaced. The only symptom that makes me slightly...

I was told that running the car with a crushed dishwasher tablet added to the coolant tank for 100 or so miles helps to clean any crap out before flushing and replacing the OAT - that was on an MG forum though, so not sure if it may be different with Freelanders...

I thought I'd take a look at the small rust patch on the drivers door only to find once I started hacking the paint off, that it's a bit bigger than I thought :( I've chucked a load of kurust on it for now and will prime/paint it tomorrow if it stays dry.
