    Key code lock out

First of all, Merry Christmas and a heppy new year to you all. I have a 1997 P38 4.6 HSE, and if it is left for a few days with the alarm on, the battery goes flat. Normally, this requires the key fob to be re-set, and I normally hold down the 'Lock' button on the key, insert it in the driver's...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I went out and checked the fluid levels, it seems to be continent at the moment. I then spent half an hour standing on the pavement, scratching my beanie hat, trying to track down a new chuffing sound in the engine bay. Oh well, back to the forums:(

    Viscous fan removal

You're a proper gent. I don't know which is more expensive, a 36mm spanner or the tool. I'm just waiting for a quote for the pair from Britpart.

    Viscous fan removal

V8 4.6 - I need to remove the viscous fan to get at the water pump to change the gasket. Does anyone know a work around so that you don't have to use special tools LRT-12-093 and LRT-12-094. They don't show the heads of the tools but I suspect that they are just big spanners. Or, does anyone...

About to take the P38 plunge

I've got a 4.6 on single point injection lpg system. It was converted when I bought it, and initially it was showing 10.5mpg on the computer. I serviced it, changed the oil, plugs, and put a free flow induction system on it, and it now does around 15mpg. With a full tank of gas and full petrol...

    New Gear Box Fault

Thanks Mick, they are ropey to say the least. It might give me an excuse to tidy things up as well. Electrically, the car has been messed around with a lot. There are all sorts of bits soldered on with in line fuses. Cheers

    New Gear Box Fault

Sorry I forgot. It's a 4.6 v8 running single point lpg. The battery charge seems fine by the way. The sluggish turnover feels like it's being restricted electronically. Cheers

    New Gear Box Fault

Hello everybody, I've had the excitement of a new gearbox fault this morning. Yesterday, everything was working like a well oiled Swiss watch. I got in this morning to start up, and the engine turns over sluggishly and isn't firing. A warning comes up on the dash saying 'Gearbox Fault'. I'm...

    EAS Max Speed: 35 mph

Druim you're a genius. I re-set the windows and then switched it off, took the key out, and then re-started it after ten seconds. It seems to work a treat now. Ace, cheers for the help.

    EAS Max Speed: 35 mph

I could just remove the EAS ECU? It worked perfectly well before I disconnected the battery though

    EAS Max Speed: 35 mph

I have worked on my 1997 4.6 for a couple of weeks and had the battery disconnected. The car has had a spring conversion and the EAS removed, so when I reconnected the battery and ran the car down the road, the speed is restricted to 35mph. Is there a way to re-set the system to turn off the...

    4.6 V8 Cam Position Sensor

Thanks for that, I'm not averse to second hand parts I just can't find anywhere selling them. Unfortunately, I've had springs fitted so I've sold all of the EAS parts, oops. Thanks for the advice though, I'll disconnect clean and check the contacts and give it another go.

    1997 P38 4.6 on LPG: Backfire

Cheers. The code turned out to be the Camshaft position sensor. I'm going to take it out and check the wiring as a lot of the plugs have chaffed insulation. We'll see how that goes. My wife heard the backfire in the house half a mile away!

    4.6 V8 Cam Position Sensor

Hi everybody, I've got a code coming up saying that I've got a failed cam position sensor. I'm going to take it out and check everything, but just in case, does anyone know where I can get a replacement without having to sell the house? Cheers

    1997 P38 4.6 on LPG: Backfire

Thanks for that. It's about 2/3rds full. I think you're right about seeing the experts. Any idea how to get the air out of the water system though?
