    Td5 alternator removal

Hi guys, My alternator isn't charging the battery anymore, so I've got to get it off. I've found a couple of threads, but the videos posted in them are gone. Does anyone have a guide or video you can share please? Cheers Si

    Am I being paranoid

I've already done the EGR and there's no cat on my one either, though I do need a new down pipe. The flexi part has had it on mine. My MAP sensor is clean as a whistle, but I'll see about a new MAF and I'll look at the throttle switch. I'll look into changing the gearbox oil and the sump...

Also, anyone me got a link to a gearbox oil change guide at all. That is on the list of my things to do.

    Am I being paranoid

Thanks for the replies gents. Any thoughts on the 'hanging on to gears a bit too long' thing?

    Am I being paranoid

Not that we know of. My friends feels like I would expect it to feel. If that makes sense? And no, I'm not expecting a racing car. Lol

    Am I being paranoid

I own a Discovery 2. Do you blame me?!?!? But..... It's my first Disco and I'm still learning how it drives and as I don't have anything to compare to I worry about stuff. It's an auto, and it seems that it hangs onto the gears a bit too long. I've checked my XYZ switch and it's dry as a bone...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

It was last night, but close enough. Lol Replaced the rear anti roll bar bushes. The knock was getting a bit loud. What a pain in the bum getting them back in though! Especially when you're getting a good face dusting of rust off the join in the exhaust. In the past month I've also changed...

ABS issue and dash lights mystery

No doubt this has been asked, but I had a quick search and got nothing...... So, I bought my 99 Disco 2 with a few issues. Mostly down to neglect. I'm working my way through the problems and now I'm at this stage. I'm pretty sure I've got the 3 amigos. The ABS light is non existent in my...

    Lift kit advice please

I think it'll be and 80/20% split between off road and on road. The majority of on road drving will be to get to the 'off road' stuff.

    Lift kit advice please

I'm fine with the idea of leaving the heights as they are, hey it's cheaper. But I just don't want to get stuck or embarrass myself by bottoming out on a rutted trail somewhere. The plan is mostly to use it as a weekend toy on the lanes with the odd trip to the shops on the way home. Luckily I...

    Lift kit advice please

I was thinking of going for 35x12.5x15 on modulars. But after reading that link below, maybe I'll just go with the 265's like you suggest, lose the standard front bumper and see how it goes........ If I get stuck and die in the wilderness, it's going to be all your fault mate. ;-) lol

    Lift kit advice please

Stock set up = diffs certain distance to the ground. Bigger Tyres (with a lift to accommodate them) = Diffs higher from the ground thus better off road capability. Mostly for the deep ruts etc. I want to drive something a bit challenging, not just some loose gravel trails whit nice scenery...

Thanks for not blowing your top Brian. ;-) And that link had exactly the info I was looking for.

    Lift kit advice please

Morning guys, I want to fit a 2-3" lift kit to my 99 Disco 2 Td5. I've got ACE and Airbags, both miraculously working fine (175k on the clock and previous neglected until I got it 6 weeks ago) This is the first Disco I've owned and I'm a bit green on this subject. Do I remove the Airbags...

Removing and cleaning a TD5 MAP sensor

Just done mine. Slowly working through the MANY problems from years of neglect. Such a difference afterwards. I can't load a photo off my phone for some reason, but believe me, it was more grease/oil/muck/dust than sensor.

    Tyres

The plan is to do some greenlaning at the weekends and the odd on tarmac errand. No regular motorway jaunts.

    Tyres

Thinking of putting these on the Disco. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302067657322 Any thoughts/recommendations or anyone got these fitted? I've seen some reviews, but they all seem to be from Yute driving Aussies. They have given them decent praise. Who knows.......

    Getting used to things

Blimey! You know your stuff. Thanks for the concise reply. I'll try and locate a known working unit and see if that helps. If not, can the fault with the ECU be rectified with a nanocom or similar device? In the meantime, I'm going to redo the solder connections on the transistor, but clean up...
