Very sad news, I always found his posts invaluable especially on p38 diesel engine jobs, never met him but sure seems like a real character with some of his comments! RIP sir.
That's the first error I made, The cars about 10 miles away at the moment and I didn't get a photo when I noticed it. The normal VIN plate is on the slam panel.
Picked up a 97 p38 for a donor vehicle today and noticed there was a body coloured plate with 1997 and about 6 other numbers on the inside edge of the n/s inner wing. I know its not really important but i've never noticed it on any other p38's I've had but they have been very early models.
I've got 2 sensors, 1 at the front just by the 1st glow plug which is the single pin brown and there's one about midway which I haven't touched. I did run a temporary earth yesterday but thinking about it I did engine to chassis rather than to body if that would make a difference?
That's an interesting thread however still leaves me a bit confused as mine has the brown single pin sensor and only 1 pin/wire going to the plug. its at the front of the head and I didn't need to take the manifold off to change mine. It has had the engine changed at the dealer in 1998 but I...
That's interesting, mines got aircon but also has the single wire plug and brown single pin sensor which I've changed today with no effect. I can't see any other sensors on the head apart from this one, don't mention the no4 injector as I had to change mine about 8 months ago and that wire is...
I know there's been loads of posts about temp gauges + over heating on the diesel engines but mine got a bit of an odd one, Its a 1995 2.5 auto and the temp gauge is going up into the red when the vehicle isn't actually overheating (for a change). What actually happens is the more electrical...
I did mine 2 weeks back and the only issue with the screw was the plastic bracket on the side of the heater box which seems to serve no purpose other than sit directly in the way and stop you getting anything onto the screw head. Once said bracket was removed carefully with a small hacksaw...
Spent about 15 mins opening + closing the bonnet to try and get the "bonnet open" message to go off when it was clearly closed, came back in and searched on here, found the answer and remembered I had beers in the fridge so that make the switch a job for the morning :)
A strange one but i'm trying to work out what master cylinder i need for my 93 classic.its got abs sensors + the wabco control module under the passengers seat but deffinatly has not got operational abs or the modulator/pump fitted.however none of the pipes ect look to have ever been or...
I fitted the police spec springs + new rear shocks and did away with my center self leveling shock after it fell apart,I don't think any 2 classics sit at the same hight tbh. Also if your using yours for off road i'd avoid any of the really heavy duty springs that some manufacturers list for...
I had 2 siezed pistons in the n/s/f caliper on my classic not long back, cheap and easy to overhaul though.Buy 4 new pistons and a seal kit and away to go however DON'T buy the Britpart seal kit as the metal seal retainers don't fit the caliper.
The headlining above the boot area of my classics got about a 4 inch round patch of where the headlining cloth is coming away from the backing,I was thinking of getting some kind of spray glue and making a slice in the cloth? any ideas or methods you've used on yours please.
