1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

i picked a cheap kit up from amazon to have a go, but the threaded attachments weren't long enough to fit in properly. so i'm in the process of returning it and finding a new one. what's the basic process for testing?

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

I'm fairly hopeful there's not a compression issue, i had planned to test this myself, but reading the workshop manual, it only guides a petrol compression test and says that a diesel needs to be tested by a professional. is this still true or just something that was more dificult at the time...

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

I am pretty sure you were right about glowplugs, i renewed all 4 last night, i had used a cheaper britpart heater conversion a few years back, i checked and the 4th one had a faulty electrical connection. i replaced these and did a cold start with about 20 seconds on the plugs and i got a near...

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

its been a while but i do owe this thread an update, I've barely had time to consider it recently. The build has continued, plodding on and tackling each job slowly, but i'm at the 98% done stage, It's looking about finished, and its driving and running fairly well. a couple of update photos as...

    Wood interior episode 2

i'm going to have a watch later on, i haven't seen your land rover videos yet. To be honest i watched the one about the bike and then the bench, but i didn't finish either, they were a bit rambling and off the point to hold my attention. I only mean that as feedback and not criticism, its great...

    Bulkhead removal bar

defender versions always list that they are not series compatible, but i'm not sure what the reasons for that are. i don't think i've ever seen one for a series. maybe a custom jobby?

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

doesn't this mean that all the power/amps going through that fusebox runs through the ignition switch first? can the switch handle that?

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

Long time no update, but i have made good progress this year! most of the truck is slowly coming back together in a nearly finished way, millions of small jobs to do. recently managed to get a decent fit on the body and the doors and had some final chassis repairs done, will update some photos...

Series 3 Dashboard clock classic style (52mm)

i'm just amazed that they can even cost that much! if anyone has anything second hand i may be interested if its in the £15 max price range. the big issue on ebay is sifting through the tacky chinese/HK crap to find anything decent.

Series 3 Dashboard clock classic style (52mm)

Has anyone ever seen a half decent, non blinged, dashboard clock that would suit a series? preferably does not cost a fortune, like this example https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/vdo-12-hour-clock-instrument-370012001

Fill in this survey if you own a classic car/truck.

20 questions about the exact value of your car, and then a question about where you keep it and if it's locked or has a tracker or insurance. And then asks for your postcode! bit in depth for me this one

Series 3 New Project but with a slight identity challenge

i was in paddocks in matlock this week, they had a notice at the parts desk selling off slightly warehouse damaged series door tops and skins. might be worth giving them a call.

    Old Landy's...out there.

i can think of about 7 i know of in fields and drives within 5 miles from me! there's so many out there. mine was an abandoned driveway rescue. you only have to ask the question!

    Rocky mountain door tops

Yes they do fit, but be aware that they also sell 101 door tops which won't fit, make sure you get the right thing.

Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

anyone ever actually seen somthing fitted here? i assume that's what it is designed for, but my guess was most recent radios were too deep to use.

Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

I like the idea but that managed to not look old or new at the same time

Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

that has crossed my mind, but i don;t think there's many choices. At least in that position it is obscured fairly well by the steering wheel.

Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

has anyone got examples of a clean stereo/radio fit into a series 3 dash. i'm interested in trying to use the panel/cutout to the right of the centre panel. see here, i'm interested in what people have managed without cutting up the rest of the dash too much or adding extra bodges. The dash...
