Other Recommendation for Land Rover Restoration

Afternoon everyone, I have a Series 3 24V Lightweight in serious need of TLC. I don't have the skills, tools or facilities to do the work myself and I'm looking for a Land Rover or classic car specialist in or around Bristol (say within 50 to 100 miles) that can do the work. Does anyone have...

Lightweight front axle / steering problem

NiteMare, thanks for the information, I've striped the rear hubs off, but I don't know what to expect with the front hubs, so I'll take it a step at a time. Blackburn & dominicbeesley, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't something that simple and I have spare springs just in case. Cheers...

Lightweight front axle / steering problem

Afternoon, this could be a long post, so thanks for reading. I have a SIII Lightweight fitted with AVM free wheeling hubs. I recently changed the front brake shoes and drums for an MoT, which she passed. A couple of days later though, the front nearside wheel had seized and when freed developed...

    Roof for SIII lightweight

Afternoon, Simple question, can I fit any standard SIII 88" roof (or SII for that matter) to a SIII Lightweight or will the roof need to be adapted? Cheers, Richard

Series III petrol stalling when pulling away

Morning, I have a Series III lightweight 2.25 petrol, 24v with a 24v to 12v dropper supplying a 12v ignition system. I have had problems from the start with poor running, initially it would kangaroo at speed, then the kangarooing became progressively worse and now the it will not pull away...

Converting SII V8 back to 2.25

I was thinking of keeping the SII as original as possible and with the V8 still to be fitted, I'm also a little leery of someone else's modifications. But I didn't know that a V8 would be more economical than a 2.25 ltr. That may make me change my mind....

Converting SII V8 back to 2.25

Evening, I'm looking at converting a SII V8, which is missing the V8 engine, back to a standard 2.25 petrol. I understand that the bulkhead has been adapted for a V8, the gearbox has been fitted with a V8 conversion plate and the electrics modified. I'm not too concerned with changing out the...

    Faulty brake light switch

Oxides, probably not a silly question if you know how rubbish I am with anything electrical. However the bulbs are 24v and I haven't had to replace any brake lights for a couple of years.

And one more thing.... ....the Land Rover came from L Jackson & Co near Doncaster.

    Faulty brake light switch

Afternoon, Oxide, I've replaced the switch twice myself, my local garage has replaced the switch at least twice and the land rover mechanic has replaced the switch once. Replacement switches have been sourced from (amoung others) Christian Autos in Bristol. The switch does screw into the...

    Faulty brake light switch

Morning, I have an '84 Series III 109, with 24 volt electrics I picked up from an MoD disposal company in 2009. I have had to replace the brake switch (which looks like an original part) because one of the spade connectors snapped. I have tried a number of replacement brake switches myself...
