I'm on the case with the sills with rust prevention, and have changed the power steering fluid, Brake fluid done by previous owner. Will do the Diff and transfer box oils.

I have removed the rear disc, cleaned it out and lubricated the mechanism and adjusted the shoes, must remember to do it next time not just check the disc pads!!! Having said that does anyone have any other maintenance jobs that keep trouble away but are not in the "book"?

Yes out of sight out of mind, I noticed a you tube video on the BMW X5 handbrake and it looked like an identical unit outside and inside with the same motor, wonder if they have the same failure rate???

Is it the imobiliser thats stopping you from starting? Lots of information on immobiliser problems in the forum or You tube.

Ive just bought a td5 after the old 200tdi finally reverted back to nature. I know they have a bad reputation but is head gasket failure inevitable sooner or later, what percentage of vehicles have survived without head gasket failure?

Steering box adjustment really easy, just jack up the front of the car so both wheels are clear of the ground so you can feel the steering from full lock to full lock whilst you adjust the screw on top of the steering box. There are various threads on the forum about it.

I have a hole about 2" diameter in the neerside inner wing. Is it an MOT failure? the inner wings are available from Paddocks, shown as require modification? What modification is required and has anyone fitted them? How easy is it and how long would it take?
