Hi chaps, I've got a 2000 discovery td5 and my front diff has failed, the pinion and crown wheel have excessive wear, and I'm wanting to know if a diff from a discovery 1 300tdi 24 spline would fit? If anybody has changed one of these before? :)

thanks steve, its all ok the ace has been removed, had coil conversion. sunroof was leaking but sorted it now.

.. Hey mate, mine had the same problem, it was due to the play in the swivel ball (king pin) bearings, easy to sort if the bearings are in good condition, just take a shim out of the top king pin. Give it a road test, if that sorts it, I'd say best to strip it and regrease the bearings too keep...

Hi, assuming that the bolts holding the pulley to the pump are tight, then you will be best of replacing the pump. They are relatively cheap and easy to fit. Search for paddock motor spares they have a vast range of land rover parts. They also post worldwide, I'm sure you will find a thread on...

Yeahh we've done the job now, we were going to got for the engine out route but opt'd not too, I wasnt difficult just heavy work, we also changed the fork for a heavy duty one and replaced the slave cylinder :)

Well your crazy! Lol, we rang a specialist near us and they quoted £450 + parts. There easy enough just heavy work :)

Sounds like its burning oil then mate, but it only takes a small drop off oil to pass the seals and drop into the exhaust system to give you a almighty cloud of smoke, id recommend, not leaving it on idle for prelonged periods, also take note over a couple of weeks on the oil level, take...
