One of the wires has snapped probably. Same has happened to mine. Can get a kit for £17 on eBay. Just ordered one for mine.

It was on the end to the right hand side.

Cheers davidsmith1307 the letter was stamped on the nuts. Bought the key. Undid said nuts! Sweet! Now to attack the rear window, handbrake and many other things!

Mines an l series. Jack is still in engine bay but no key. Will look on the nut dave for the letter.

Cheers irishrover. I can buy the special socket which will take the nut off and replace with standard nuts but was hoping to find a stamp on the vehicle or in the handbook somewhere with the code on it so I could just keep the locking nuts I have now. You would think Land rover would have it on...

It seems the noise is only when the vehicle is on the move and under load.

Lol. It seems to only make that noise changing through the gears when accelerating. I'll try the engine off test tomorrow. Same sound as the one I get on my series when the front UJ starts to deteriorate. Maybe UJ? Don't know much about these freelanders. Too new for me! Hehe.

A mate of mine bought an s reg 1.8 with 48000 miles for £1200. And I've just picked up w reg l series diesel for £1300 with full service history and receipts. Just to give you an idea of price. £2800 with out history seems pricey to me. Especially for the petrol.
