Always carry a selection of multibits, adjustable spanners and the like. Even cheap and naff tools will help get you out of a pickle :) Glad they got you going again :) Who do flux use for recovery?

I have the set from screwfix. One thing I need to get it the handle for it. Last time I used a rather imaginative set of G Clamps and and spanners :rolleyes:

Shirely, If the coolant that leaves the rad to go around the rest of the system is sufficiently cool (i.e. the fan doesn't come on and it's not "overheating" as the fans bust) then the coolant in the engine bay will circulate and cool down, this preventing the engine being too high? Or do you...

It's a land rover, the bits not covered in oil are the ones to watch out for ;) If it's split, I wouldn't be overly concerned. If everything else is OK and that's the only issue, Go for it :)

I like the looks of it. But it's not IMO a "proper" Range Rover. And don't get me started on the "Sport".
