Freelander 1 2004 TD4 blue smoke, no power loss.

afternoon gents. not laid hands on the freelander for a couiple of week, apart from removing the inlet manifold to check for fouling and to give it a good clean. there was a fair bit of gunk in it, oily soot. but nothing id call bad. as for the problem, im still non the wiser. im not thinking...

Freelander 1 2004 TD4 blue smoke, no power loss.

ok, not what i was expecting. no oil in the exhaust. its sooty but not oiley. thats thrown me now. so, im guessing the movement in the turbo shaft (up and down, not in and out) isnt as tale telling as i thought. i'll work through the things you highlighted and see if they shed any light on this.

Freelander 1 2004 TD4 blue smoke, no power loss.

hiya, thanks for the reply, ive pulled the pipe off to the turbo from the maf and theres definite movement in the shaft in the turbo, its not massive but its enough for me to know the bearings are done. i think ive caught it just as its started to go. small amounts of oil through the...

Freelander 1 2004 TD4 blue smoke, no power loss.

got it jacked up and had a good look round underneath, spotted this at the turbo inlet, surely oil there is not a good sign? but confused because the turbo wasnt noisey and there was no loss of power. im thoroughly baffled. inlet pipe coming off tomorrow, so i can have a feel at the shaft and...

Freelander 1 wishbone rear mounting problems!

i did get penetrating oil onto the nuts while trying to remove them, unfortunately that meant cutting 2 holes in the footwell to get to the nuts. and even with the nuts welded back in place, the bolts were still "welded" inside the housing and i literally had to cut the bolts free before they'd...

Freelander 1 td4 Clutch Master Cylinder failure issues

initially after changing the MC there was no pressure in the system at all, so, i spent about half an hour bleeding new fluid through the system hoping that it was just air. but it didnt improve as id have expected (although ive never bled the clutch on a car before) . id have imagined, a few...

Freelander 1 td4 Clutch Master Cylinder failure issues

evening all, had to change the master cylinder on my td4 today. change went pretty straight forward, but upon testing the clutch after fitting the new MC, there was no pressure. so, i bled up the clutch which seemed to take far too long. it got to a point where the clutch was working but the...

    Freelander 1 2004 td4 turbo removal

afternoon all, unfortunately the turbo let go on my td4 yesterday. im in the process of gaining access to be able to asses the level of damage and ive hit a stumbling block! it looks to me that i need to remove the housing for the air filter, theres 4 (10mm) bolts inside but it almost looks like...
