evening all, had to change the master cylinder on my td4 today. change went pretty straight forward, but upon testing the clutch after fitting the new MC, there was no pressure. so, i bled up the clutch which seemed to take far too long. it got to a point where the clutch was working but the bite point is very low.
to me, it should have bled up easier than it did im sure, but whats more puzzling is, i've now got an engine fault light on the dash! and i've got no idea why.
anyone have any idea's A, what the light might be caused by?
B, could there be a fault elsewhere in the system?
I've not noticed any fluid leaking from the gearbox, and it was definitely the MC that was knackered.
im puzzled and worried!
thanks

initially after changing the MC there was no pressure in the system at all, so, i spent about half an hour bleeding new fluid through the system hoping that it was just air. but it didnt improve as id have expected (although ive never bled the clutch on a car before) . id have imagined, a few bleeds and the air would have been out. makes me wonder how much fluid the system holds!?
theres a bit of pressure in the system now and the clutch works, but still a very low biting point, i guess i'll have to carry on bleeding it in the morning and see if i cant get more life into it.
as for the engine fault light, clueless, no idea what that is, but its worrying me.
is there any sensors attached to the clutch system? flywheel? anything?

The light could be anything that has got knocked while doing the MC. Getting the codes read is the only way to pinpoint that.

Good Iuck with the clutch bleed, but bad aftermarket MCs are common and normally result in replacement OE MCs or putting up with a low pedal.

well, it would be cheaper to replace it with a proper one than go chasing dual mass flywheel or slave cylinder faults. and thank you for the advice
