    Crazy Defender 90 Decision

I did wonder about that. They are both young teenagers. They think the prospect of sitting sideways hilareous, but I get your point in so far as ramming on the anchors with them sitting sideways might give them a sore neck. Make a change from getting a sore neck off the XBox.

    Crazy Defender 90 Decision

I used to drive my mate's TD5 a bit, but that was pretty new and one of the first TD5s. I thought it was a great fun buggy, but I did cane it a bit. Other than that, not really. The setup in the back is two facing two, I reckoned with the two rear seats folded up (or maybe even removed) there...

    Crazy Defender 90 Decision

Hello All, I am thinking of taking the utterly crazy decision to buy a Defender 90. Why is that crazy you ask? Well because it's a replacement for my wife to drive, instead of her 1.2L Honda Jazz. It's difficult to think of a more extreme change, maybe if I bought a military surplus HMMV...

    Just looking for opinions...

Oh yeah, and haha... first problem. All screen washers have stopped working... motor still running okay, bottle full, no water anywhere - front or rear. Guess I'll crawl under for a look in case something simple, before I spin back to the garage. Start as you mean to go on...

    Just looking for opinions...

I've sat on the hard shoulder outside Birmingham at 3am.... And I've sat in a mud pool with deflated air suspension outside Bracknell. If this was a rational proposition then I'd be buying a Nissan - wouldn't I !!!!!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I took the plunge and acquired a mint condition '10 plate Autobiography Black. She's a 5.0L V8 twin SC and she is just an awesome vehicle. The sound of that V8 is just pure joy. That big square bonnet takes me back to my classics, and the ride quality is like a...

    Just looking for opinions...

Heh heh yeah... that goes with anything that came out of Solihull though... ;-) Only thing I can say is it's a local dealer, same family been there for 10 years, and I'm sure he loves those RAC policies...

    Just looking for opinions...

Yup, agree. Have never done car finance have always waited until I've saved the cash. But you gotta save it for something right, other than the bank manager's bonus... My kids are heading for teens now, and my wife drives a 10yo Honda Jazz. So I think it's time I had bit of a mid-life. I used to...

    Just looking for opinions...

Well, thanks! I'm guessing you know. No ****ing around there then? I do around 2,500 miles a year, weekend family adventures and family visits only. Having run a 4.6 P38 and a 5.0 CL500 I think the gas cost will be okay. The 3.4 wasn't as quick as I'd expected, that's for sure - think my 2.7...

    Just looking for opinions...

If you have 10 minutes to spare, read my post and please give me your hard-earned thoughts! I've loved Range Rovers or Land Rovers since I was a wee boy. My big brother in law had an original 3.5 naturally-aspirated V8 and I loved it when he dropped me off at school. Climbing out, slamming that...

    Bit of advice pls?

Thanks for the advice all. I went back and checked again but just not sure. I never ignore a bad feeling. Best case I think would be 3 new inner wings. Funny you mentioned the rear A-frame as I wondered about that. Looked a bit more and it had a few holes in it that were just too deep for...

    Bit of advice pls?

Thanks very much guys, I will pop back and check it out with my small hammer (I think I have one somewhere, never needed anything other than large...) Cheers! Jock

    200TDI v 3.5

Has anyone owned a classic with a TDI, and one with a V8? Clearly the output of the TDI is much lower, but anyone got any views or know how do they compare in low end grunt, pulling power and off-roading? I've only off-roaded with my 3.9 and it pulls Toyotas out of pretty much anything. Cheers

    Bit of advice pls?

Hi everyone, I've been looking for a classic to lift and off-road for quite a few weeks. Haven't found one yet that ticks all the boxes, but saw one today which came pretty close. It's pretty clean with only 2 owners, although one did use it for off-roading as part of his job. It's pretty clean...

    Best Classic

Now that's a fair point. I assumed I was going to be wandering off up the misty mountains where no one had been before and would need more power to defeat Sauron. But come to think of it, probably not. Question has been answered: a 3.5 it is.

    Best Classic

The bit about weak fuel maps is cr-p too,put around by companies who were selling chips to owners who couldnt know any different. It was just a poorly built engine stretched beyond its natural limit. Fuel mixture is the only credible explanation for the greater prevalence of this fault in the...

    Best Classic

Guys I am about to buy another classic Rangey to lift and pimp for off-roading. It will be my fourth rangey, after an '88 3.5 and a '92 3.9 EFI. Never mind the P38. Any view on the best classic to go for? I'm thinking the 3.9 or 4.2 for extra power, but I'm told the 3.9 is bomb-proof, the...
