    Tappets

Hi all. Had a new head gasket and head skim done a few weeks ago. Now have very noisy tappets. They were OK before. Its not a problem from cold, just when it gets warm. Is this something I can fix or should I take it back to the garage? BTW, they said they kept the tappets soaked in oil...

    Vibration from vcu area.

That needs checking out. Get the tyres fitted, if that fixes it, ok. If not, get it checked out at a garage.

    Reprogramming of remote

I got one from a breaker. Had a 4x4 specialist code it in for me. Took 1 min to do. All ok now. He was a friend, so very cheap. I think they charge around £40.00 to do this. Sorry I'm in Berkshire. Good luck

    VCU Change

All pretty straight forward to do. Follow the the threads here. If you getting new support bearings, that's make it easier. Otherwise you might need a puller to remove them. Make sure to have some else to help lower the prop when under the car or use a jack to support it. Did mine two weeks ago...

    Hot vcu advice please !

Hi Just changed mine a few days ago. Speaking to Bell engineering before I got the new VCU to ask how to test a worn VCU. They said, one way was to go for a 12 mile drive and see if the VCU got hot. If very hot, it could be on the way out. Hope this helps

new tyres today but 36 psi

    Sounds like 28 psi then:)
  18. T

    Vcu

I did it myself. The new VCU was £200 + PP of £30. Bell engineering charge another £30 to send the old unit back, so £260 all in.
  19. T

    Vcu

Yes just the VCU was changed. The support bearings were ok. Bit tricky getting them off the old VCU and you will need a puller to do this. The other way is to order new bearings and fit them to the new unit.
