    2.5 n/a or tdi?

If you're heading to these southern climes, plenty of both 2.5s and tdis about - the bush mechanics can fix em both equally well/badly. Never heard of a tdi overheating in the desert (unless it had a dodgy radiator of course).

Roof racks and weight and stuff

Gotta say the ride on my 110 was affected pretty heavily just by sticking on OME springs; ie. more role in corners. That said when we were overlanding we had what Chris Scott (and everyone else) would consider too much stuff on the roof rack (roof tent, 2 seats, canvas awnings, 2 jerry cans...

    Timbuktu for a laugh

Hi Kimanchi, Thanks for the comments, but no once is enough. And I promise you as soon as you get on the road you'll soon work out for yourself what you use all the time, never use and wish you had. (More beer for us I think!) Re budget, we banked on 1,000 euros a month (the best foreign...

    Timbuktu for a laugh

Kimanchi, Re kit, right, here goes. Basically, we bought everything we could for the trip (www. nomadafrik.com if you want the gory details) and subsequently drove through Africa like a beached whale. I should have listened to Chris Scott more (Sahara Overland) about weight. He's right...

    Timbuktu for a laugh

Nobber - what the hell are you doing in your photo??? Re trip - it depends how fast you wanna take it. You could do UK to Timbuctu in 3 weeks if you wanted to. (Have mates who did UK to Ghana - 3 times - in a Series in that time). So, count another month round trip from Southern Morocco...

    Timbuktu for a laugh

Hey Kimanchi, if you wanna practice for your trip, try driving round the M25 10 times on the trot. If the Landy makes it, you'll be fine! The most boring bit of the trip will be the 2,500 miles down the coast from southern Morocco through Western Sahara and into Mauritania on the tarmac. Good...

Screaching like a squashed dead thing

Jim, Front brakes. Will check for anything loose tmw, but think wheel bearings are OK as checked them recently... though thinking about it, that's probably why there's a squeaking noise now. Keep trying to get the wife to hang out the door and listen as I brake, but she keeps getting her hair...

Screaching like a squashed dead thing

So, I've cleaned 'em, sanded 'em, greased the back of 'em with copper grease stuff, but my brakes still insist on screaching like mad ever time I brake. Any ideas how to stop the racket?? Cheers

    hannibal patriot survivor roof racks

Ang on! Got a Survivor full length roof rack on my 110 and it's a beaut. Come half way through Africa with me and while the Landy is busy rusting away (especially the rear cross member!!)... the roof rack is an absolute star! Love it, best thing I bought. bought it from Tim and Clare at...
