    Prop shaft vibration

This is definitely not a rattle or minor vibration! If i go over 40 i think the front axle and transfer box will disintegrate! No where have i found a definitive statement that the yokes should be offset. Ive found posts stating in line, 30 deg and now 45deg! More help please! thanks steve

    Prop shaft vibration

Hi Treworgy - I always value your opinions! vehicle is not lifted - bog standard, ujs free to move and splined joint well greased with no excessive play. My understanding is that ujs in pairs should be in phase - I googled the subject last night and there are certain threads that say the rear...

    Prop shaft vibration

Latest Update - marked existing orientation and took shaft off, dismantled and spline marks were in alignment (yokes in line) so why do i have severe vib above 40? In desperation ive even tried turning the splines 180 deg - no difference. The uj cups all appear symetrical in the yokes and...

    juder?

i agree with Aidie - mine does the same thing if my handbrake isnt pushed all the way down - shoes just touch the drum in the transmission brake and it comes to a stop like a kangaroo! Check that the handbrake mech is well lubed and that it clears when fully released steve

Fuel gauge wiring - time bomb?

thanks Gents - the diag and pics are almost identical to what I have - so presumably this set up in the top of a 20 gallon tank of four star is considered safe?

Fuel gauge wiring - time bomb?

Hi Group - this question is loosely rover related cos i tow my boat with a 90 and its got a rover V engine! Ive always been a bit unhappy with the fuel gauge sender - its a simple float affair with sliding contacts onto a coil to give a variable resistance. My concern is that this is mounted...

    Clunky drive

Reading though various posts, the noise made by knackered CV joints most fits my symptons but mine does it in a straight line too when under heavy load - do knackered Cvs do this? thanks steve

    Clunky drive

Damn - thats not good news - did you ever find out what part had failed and if its repairable? Once up to speed mine seems to run nice and smooth. I fitted this one about 3 years ago - off fleabay its 1.22 ratio and i thought it was a good buy!! steve

    Clunky drive

Hi all - i have a problem that seems to be slowly getting worse. I have a loud "clicking/clunking" coming from either the front axle or transfer box particularly when under heavy load. It does it both on lock and when strait ahead. Ive check prop ujs (one has a bit of play and will be replaced...

    Which exhaust

Hi Tigger With the back box only off the original n/a engine noise was fine at normal revs but it did sound a bit strangled at high revs. With no box at all now its great at low revs but just too much when its pushed hard! Turbo sounds sweet! So a TD rear box should be better for gas flow than...

    Which exhaust

Hi all - in need of a bit of advice - put a 200tdi in my old 90 a couple of years ago - used a steve parker adaptor, the front pipe off the disco, the original tail pipe and back box - 2.5 n/a and welded a bit of 2 inch pipe in place of the middle box. This has worked ok up untill 9.00pm last...

    2 questions in one!

Hi Group, got 2 minor problems which someone may be able to advise: Old 90 fitted with disco 200 tdi: 1 - started great in the summer and runs well when hot. Still starts now in this sub zero climate but sounds like its on 2 or 3 pots for a short while with more than usual blue smoke - is this...

    90 rear floor

yes - i think i had the mounts off when i plated her up from underneath but will do the same again. Chopped off the offending spring seat last nite and chopping back to sound metal. Is the chassis in 2 layers at this point? I know there is a seam that runs along the top of the chassis, but i...
