Turbo actuator pipe melting a hole ...

I am stuck in Turkey with a broken booster pipe, a broken half shaft (which was welded in Russia but already showing cracks), disk brakes with 1% left on the pads and some super noisy fan belt or pulley bearing. Tomorrow is going to be fun day shopping for parts and trying not to get ripped off...

Turbo actuator pipe melting a hole ...

I hope this is the case. I was wondering if anyone knows how hot the air should be? I assume since there is no actual flow through the booster pipe, and the pressure is 1 bar (I assume) it feels like heat/oil is the only explanation. I will get a silicon pipe or a fuel type pipe, but really I...

Turbo actuator pipe melting a hole ...

Here are the two photos. I realise the turbo is a bit oily. I also have new silicon hoses which I will fit a bit later. The question is primarily about the booster pipe. You will notice a bit of oil getting to the point where the puncture is created (oil does not reach the fuel pump). Perhaps...

Turbo actuator pipe melting a hole ...

I may have messed up the terminology. I think I am referring to the boost pipe between then turbo and fuel pump. Any ideas.

Turbo actuator pipe melting a hole ...

Hi, I have a strange problem. The pipe going from the turbo to the diesel pump in my 300TDI defender keeps getting a puncture just after the turbo connection. The only explanation for me is that the air must be super hot and blows a hole! As an experiment I lined the inside of the first 3...

[Stuck in Georgia] Clutch feel different - noise when down max

Thank you very much to everyone for the quick detailed help!! Much appreciated. Got is fixed at GT motors in Tbilisi in Georgia. Absolutely amazingly helpful people. They happen to have a defender clutch in stock (we replaced my heavy duty clutch, and the whole job was £450 which was not too bad...

[Stuck in Georgia] Clutch feel different - noise when down max

Hi, Just to close of this thread, here are some photos from the clutch. The release bearing was completely busted, and it looks like it was grinding against the clutch diaphram spring.

    Noise from water pump

I recorded a Youtube of the noise. It is the slightly higher pitched screetching noise you will hear. It appears loudest in the vacinity of the water pump. If I replace the pump, is this likely to go away? I hear this after starting the engine from cold, later it goes away. Is there anything...

[Stuck in Georgia] Clutch feel different - noise when down max

One question that remains in my mind is why there is a slight smell and noise. Can anyone give me a rough idea what is going on? I am trying to understand what is getting damaged further.

[Stuck in Georgia] Clutch feel different - noise when down max

Thank you for the help so far! Just for the benefit of other people, I am not really in a position to take things apart right now. I am trying to work out what my next move should be. I am trying to work out what is actually happening in my clutch and how much I can push it in this condition. I...

[Stuck in Georgia] Clutch feel different - noise when down max

I am curious about the noise/grind. Could you give a possible explanation that could include the smell of something grinding ? I need to make a call whether I can drive back 4 hours to Tbilisi in Georgia as this is the only Land Rover place in Georgia. The next location is Ankara in Turkey...

[Stuck in Georgia] Clutch feel different - noise when down max

Hi guys, I hope you can help. I have a 300TDI 1996 110 defender. I had a new clutch fitted about 6 months ago, and a new gearbox fitted 1 month ago. About couple of days ago i noticed a change on the clutch pedal feel. The clutch release used to be early on the pedal, not it feels like it...

Gas cylinder mounted on vehicle - is this legal in the UK?

Does anyone know what the deal is with mounting gas cylinders on a defender? I am hoping to attach to two Calor cylinders over the two small rear windows as is common in South Africa, but I do not see anything mentioned about this in the UK which seems to suggest this is not an option...

Minor issues with bearing replacement in rear hub

I wish to just give a status update for in case anyone else runs into the same questions when using the DA2381 Bearing kit for a 1994 or later Defender . I made some really dumb mistakes because this is the first time attempted to do any work on my Defender. I think I got it right in the end...

Minor issues with bearing replacement in rear hub

It sounds like you may be using the kit for an older defender with drum brakes at the back (which has two oil seals)? I see that kit includes the two nuts and lock washer... but I have disc brakes at the back so only one oil seal in the rear part of the hub.
