Hi Having spent many hours working on my project P38 and it now looks like at least 1 of the big end bearings has gone so am breaking it for spares, would really love to persevere with it but was supposed to be building a garage this year and so far all of spare time has been spent on the RR...

Possibly, mate of mine works for Bearmach and he mentioned it tonight, it's not ready for release but will quiz him some more, did drop into the conversion that I'd be happy to test it for them ;)

Replacement steering column arrived Friday and is now fitted, surprisingly easy job :) Front N/S airspring is shot, bloody cheapskate previous owner had fitted a brand new Dunlop on the drivers side but ignored the other one, replacements ordered. Still waiting on a replacement radiator...

Not been on for a while but have been making progress albeit slow, work is still busy and when I'm off work it's been raining :mad: Engine is now running, it was a faulty diesel injection pump in the end, fitted a replacement from a breaker with a snapped timing chain and it now runs great...

Replacement pump fitted and it lives :)

Just tried insuring my P38 for the first time, currently with Hastings and my previous car was a 98 Freelancer diesel. Underwriter refused to insure the P38 and when I quizzed them the reason was it was too old! Asked the call handler how old was too old and she came back with 7 years at which...

yep, pipes were cracked off and are now removed, there is no diesel out of the pump to the injectors

hi done that already, had a LR guy over last week and he plugged his Yearbook in and checked the codes etc so it should ne good to go

Spent a few hours on it yesterday and managed to find the pump number and it does end in 994. Stripped off the manifold and checked all the connections to the pump and they seem OK. Double checked the lift pump and it deliveres a nice stream of fuel to the pump. Fuel shutoff valve has power...

Had the LR guy take a look at it today, plugged in his Autologic kit and the EDC codes match what is in the BECM so no worries there. Have the pipe off one of the injectors and no diesel coming through. Checked lift pump and there is diesel pumped through to the injection pump, the stop...

That's what I got from the initial post as well, no mention of doing it on the cheap just wanted advice on peeps experiences

Aaarrrgh After sorting the key fob/engine disabled issues I thought I was on the home straight, things took a dive tonight :( Been trying to find the pump number but there is nothing stamped on the body, checked online for some pics of where it should be but it isn't there :mad:
