    A quick one for those in the know..Which is cylinder No.1 on a 4 cylinder 2.25 petrol military enginel? Is it the cylinder closest the driver or the one closest the radiator? Trying to attempt the timing tomorrow..can't find any timing mark on the pulley wheel either...:confused: lucky me.

    SUCCESS ! Changing out the dizzy worked! Just eyeballed the timing as I don't have a stobe...but she's going..thanks for the responses.

    Folks...thanks for continueing the thread..just a update since christmas..I've been tipping away in my spare time and dry nights!:) I've drained the fuel tank (not much crap in it so i put it back in less the crap) Removed the filter bowl and pump (seems to be OK) Rebuilt the Carb (again)...

    Well, I took the carb. out again and cleaned everthing I could and put every thing back together. After reinstalling and priming the lines..started her up..she started alright but then struggled to stay going. Then no sign of starting..left it over night and she started and idled for a while...

    Chris, Thanks for the reply..I cleaned 3 jets..2 in the bowl and one on top..perhaps I should give the carb another go...Merry Christmas!

    Help it won't start

    Have you checked the starter cable is not broken? Same happened to me a few months ago. I founld the lug holding the starter motor cable had broken.
