Help drilling holes for recovery swivels

Fantastic, top tips! I'm off today so will try to hunt down the correct hole saw. Cheers all!

Help drilling holes for recovery swivels

Just had a look at their site. To be fair that's not a bad shout as I can easily drill 4 manageable holes myself as opposed to the one huge hole that I'm trying to find a solution to. Sadly my OEM winch bumper (Mantec) and random steering guard combo meant that I had to remove my Jate Rings...

Help drilling holes for recovery swivels

Thanks Mad Hat Man, much appreciated. Just had a look on Ebay (out of interest) at Trepanning and there is a manual set (obviously old and very rare) for £20,000!!!!! Looked like a US listing. I may strip the winch and bumper off and get a local engineering co to deal with it for me.

Help drilling holes for recovery swivels

Thanks for the H&S advice. Just need opinions as to how to cut the holes as opposed to whether they are or are not anyone's preferred point for recovery. ;)

I'll look that up, not heard of one before. Thanks for the tip.

I don't mind them hence wanting to drill the holes. I can't abide by Jate Rings but everyone has their own preference.

Help drilling holes for recovery swivels

I'm struggling with drilling the required 36mm holes in my Mantec winch bumper!! I've tried a hole saw which made a circular mark but wasn't man enough to go through. I bought a cone cutter but it's not big enough and I've been advised against trying it. Basically I'm after giving someone local...

Bulkhead Removal Bars - Got wrong one?

I have a 90 Soft Top which was originally a Pick Up, meaning it has the tub bulkhead behind the front seats. I bought a genuine Land Rover Bulkhead Bar with brackets etc, as fitted to Stationwagons which I was going to fit. I have now had a change of plan and would like to fit the Mudrail type...

    Fuel Starvation?

It doesn't seem to drive differently. A couple of people with TDI's have driven it in the past and commented on how quick it is. I've not noticed any change in performance. Does this make it sound like a lift pump then?

    Fuel Starvation?

From time to time my 300tdi won't start easily. As the starter cranks you can hear it partially firing but you have to crank it for 20 sec or so whilst pumping the throttle. Does it every few weeks so nothing major, but thought I'd ask as it did it today. Did 50 miles this morning then left...

Advice for a front recovery point?

Thanks guys, I'll look into getting some D rings. Not sure what guard it is. I bought it from eBay last year, but it doesn't have any branding (or recovery points)! Good point about having recovery points above the bumper as it saves kneeling in the mud fishing about for a jate ring! Pic of...

Advice for a front recovery point?

I have just fitted a steering guard which meant having to remove my jate rings for it to fit. I have a Mantec winch bumper which has the usual welded-on ring on top of the bumper to the side of the winch where most people attach their winch hooks. I have a couple of questions that I'd be...

    Ebay .... More Dodgy Defenders......?

Well the body was Rioja Red judging by the door shuts and bulkhead which puts it down as a late 300tdi (as long as it was originally a TD5). I don't think the later steering wheel fits the 4 spoke steering column, and wouldn't it have bars on the roof if it was that early?
