    T-Cut: Aye or Nae

Pressure washer in my case - besides, I wouldn't want to get the rear carpets dirty!

The interior doesn't need a wash at the same time! Serious concern if you're a short-arse like me :P

    T-Cut: Aye or Nae

The problem (if you could describe it as that) on this one is that the paint is so minty over the entire body, that scratching the roof a little only served to **** me off massively! In the end I gave it a really good polish with some Turtle Wax and plan to leave it at that :)

    T-Cut: Aye or Nae

Well, I'm new to Discovery ownership so still coming to terms with having to get a set of ladders out to do the roof on my own!

    T-Cut: Aye or Nae

Sensible and what I was thinking. If it ever stops raining here I'll give it a wash + wax :)

    T-Cut: Aye or Nae

Evening, Reversing out of a parking space this evening, wife beside me in full chattering mode. Didn't realise until it was too late that the bit of lock I applied brought my roof into contact with some low-hanging branches. Got out to inspect the damage and there are some superficial...

    Comet Alloys - what's a fair price?

Thanks for the advice chaps. I have to admit I'd been lazy with my search terms. Will broaden them out in the search for a bargain set!

    Comet Alloys - what's a fair price?

I've had a look, but there don't seem to be too many good sets out there at the moment. Either the wheels are knackered or there's 2.5mm of tread on all the tyres. £150 for a set with some reasonable rubber left seems like a bargain though - well done!

    Comet Alloys - what's a fair price?

Evening, Local breakers has a set of 5 Comet alloys in with tyres that are only fit for scrap. I think the alloys might also want refurbing, which is probably going to add significantly to the overall cost. I want these for my S spec Discovery TD5. What do you reckon is a fair price given the...

[How to] Replacement of gear stick gaiters

The Exmoor Trim versions are exactly the same. You have to tease the fabric over the frames and there is nothing left to spare. I suppose for £16 they're not going to give anything away! At first I thought they had been cut too small, but they fitted up in the end and with a bit of patience...

Discovery 2 - replace original head unit

I went ahead and ordered the unit. Hopefully it will be here by the weekend. From what I could gather, the new(ish) unit will have ISO sockets on the back. I borrowed four small knitting needles off my wife and managed to prise out the old unit last night and I was pleasantly surprised to...

Discovery 2 - replace original head unit

I'm pretty sure this is a later unit from 2004-ish onwards. No problem to get a patch lead but I'd rather know in advance if one is required, rather than having to pull the existing unit out and then find I need to order one!

Discovery 2 - replace original head unit

Evening all Long time lurker, first few posts here :) I want to swap out the original tape-only head unit on my 2001 Discovery 2. I have nothing against tapes but the tape player is now jiggered, so I thought I'd keep things OEM with one of these: What I need to know is whether...

    Hello From Sheffield!

Hi everyone, Lurker here a few years back when I was contemplating a Freelander. Fate came my way when my Dad asked me to sell his Discovery II for him a week or so ago. I couldn't let it go as it's too minty, so bought it off him for myself! Anyway, here it is in all its glory...

    Freelander Buying Options

Cheers for the advice - I see the consensus is to avoid the 1.8! If I stretch then 3k brings a couple of decent TD4 Freelanders up locally as options. Unfortunately I can't wait until summer to avoid the slight premium payable for 4x4s in winter, but there you go :P Thanks again!

    Freelander Buying Options

I agree - that's where the attraction of the 'K' series models comes from, in that you can have decent spec and low mileage, but the tradeoff is an engine that seems to have proved itself more unreliable in service than the TD4, 'L' series or the V6 models.

    Freelander Buying Options

So we're saying forget the 'K' series then? ;) Might hold off for a lower mileage TD4 instead. Are there any known issues with this engine? I would have thought a BMW-sourced unit would be pretty bullet proof.

    Freelander Buying Options

Newbie here looking for a bit of advice: Got a budget of 2.5k and looking at two 52 plate Freelanders, one a TD4 with 120k on the clock and the other a 'K' series 1.8 with 60k on the clock. Both exactly the same trim specs etc. I know the TD4 is going to be more fuel efficient, but that's not...
