    An 88 for the Mrs.

Thanks, I hadn't updated it in a while which is perhaps why you missed it. I don't anticipate much will be done now until after xmas, at which point the engine and box should go back in (nothing significantly wrong with them) and we will start on the bulkhead. This isn't really a total rebuild...

    An 88 for the Mrs.

I didn't discuss it with them as the real nitty-gritty rivet-counting truth is that *early* C suffix vehicles DID have the flat type, it changed some way through production. As the check straps are an optional aspect I should have clocked it and specified what I wanted on the order. By the time...

    An 88 for the Mrs.

We decided in the end to bite the bullet and get a new chassis from Richards. BEWARE however that their stated IIA suffix A-C is actually an A-B chassis, as our original suffix C chassis has the sticking out check strap brackets, not the flush ones. Something to keep in mind should anyone else...

    Southern Electricity Utility Land Rovers?

Thanks for the replies guys, nice info to know. I only drove a couple of older TD5s, most of my time was in 04, 05 or 55 plate ones, and a 56 plate 130. I drove one 02 reg I think it was, that was utter rubbish and used to stall all the time. Thankfully it wasn't allocated to me so I only had...

    Southern Electricity Utility Land Rovers?

SEB did have some capstan winches but the hydraulic drum was far more common, or seems to be anyway seeing as there is next to no archive material available. Are you certain it was diesel, as it would almost certainly have been a six cylinder petrol if it had 900x16 tyres and was used by SEB.

    Southern Electricity Utility Land Rovers?

Hi, I used to drive some of these when in service, maybe even yours if you let me know the reg number. I have put up what info I have regarding SSE Landrovers at Southern Electricity Board Cheers, Dan.

    900x16 bar grips

The Petlas are generally pretty good, I know a few people who have run them on 1-Tons and FCs with positive comments being made. For a crossply they are quite well behaved. Can't comment on the Michelins as never driven on XzLs, although the XS's I have on my 1-Ton are pretty good if that's...

Got the Series 3 running, but can only get 40mph!

Kind of strange for an old thread to be resurrected but it did get me thinking. The normal six was quoted by Land-Rover as being able to do 75. The Weslake headed version in the NADA station wagon was quoted as 82, and this engine was more powerful even than the stage 1 V8. The six is much more...

6X6, not exactly sure what it is, RARE? HELP?!

^^ don't thrash it too hard though, a lot of these were written off due to rolling over!

6X6, not exactly sure what it is, RARE? HELP?!

Hi there, Now that is a wonderful find! It is indeed based on a stage 1 V8, as you can see by the split windscreen and leaf springs. I do not know of any others of these left, and series cherrypickers of any description are far from common. Do it up like this, which is how it would have been...

    Series Egay

There have been quite a few very expensive leafers up for (attempted) sale recently. They usually don't sell. My guess is its people trying to make an investment/profit at a time when banks aren't really worth investing in. In the case in question it could be that the guy was being nagged by the...

SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

Okay well that wouldn't have had them to start with so no loss in that respect.

SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

Yeah I understand that, what I am saying is that if they on a vehicle they are supposed to be on you would devalue the vehicle by selling the rims on. So what are they on?

SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

It would depend what vehicle they are on really. Is the vehicle a 1-Ton or not?

SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

Ten grand eh, I'll have to have a think...;)
