Indeed, a new engine would not be good. He's a trader, he bought it 2 weeks ago and put it straight in to his mechanic. Thanks for the advice, I'll definately take my mechanic with me.

Thanks for the quick responce, I think I'm going to have to get a mechanic to look at it before I part with any cash, like you said I don't trust the seller. It's just that I saw 2 last week that were in worse condition and £5k more expensive. You can understand the appeal.
